SSR stay

We stayed here a week ago as a split stay with BLT. It's our second time staying there and I get all the "ghetto" comments. It's very peaceful which was a welcome change from BLT. We had a room at Congress Park which was such an amazingly short walk to DS...loved that!

The biggest issue was the smell. Both of stays have had a mildew/mold smell and even BLT had a slight one also. Anybody know when a refurb is coming? They need to get rid of all the carpets and go to the same laminate flooring at BCV & BWV. People come in wet and without sun drying the carpets out they get smelly.

Just my thoughts.

The smell is usually from the high Florida humidity and the AC not being run to De-humidify the air enough. If you get a room that was not booked the night prior it will really be bad. Some resorts use portable units to help remove the moisture when the rooms get really bad.

We were at SSR in the middle of Feb, and luckily we didn't have any issues with our unit, no smells, no problems. It was a very enjoyable trip. Congress Park is a great location for its proximity to Ghirardelli's, lol.

It seemed like they had a refurb just a few years ago. Has it been that long?

Hmmmm...our last trip was a split stay between BCV and SSR. As everyone knows BCV has been freshly renovated and our guests were slightly let down after we moved to SSR. I was a bit upset by that observation because I love SSR so much but think it had more to do with the bathroom in the second bedroom still having the tub and not the walk-in shower like BCV. That said, we are looking forward to what they will do with the complete renovation at SSR.

Alright.

Read through a lot of posts as I do and the word "ghetto" in reference to SSR is extremely common. Also on FB groups as well. If you stay at a recently renovated resort it's easy to understand why those comments get made, that's my point.

SSR is a really nice place. It hasn't had a full renovation yet since it isn't all that old (based on DVC renovations that members pay for). We were just there in Dec and it was very nice.
