We recently canceled our first ever DCL cruise over Easter week 2015 in order to have a family reunion at SSR instead. Used up a truckload of points to reserve a GV, which we've never stayed in, and planned to enjoy early mornings at the parks and nice long days and evenings at the pools.
Imagine my reaction when I logged on here on the DISboards, only to see that the main pool slide at SSR will be closed over Easter. Seriously, Disney? You're closing the main pool slide during the height of spring travel? Why?
I'm quite tempted to cancel this reservation altogether. After many years of WDW, we've been less than thrilled about all the changes of late. Hence the reason we weren't planning on going back next year. All this does is put yet another damper on Disney.
Yes, I know. There are other pools at SSR. Bla bla bla. But one slide down means the other pool with a slide will be more crowded. And really, it just leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Why must they do a rehab during Easter Week?
It feels like I'm constantly trying to convince myself that "We'll have fun anyway." Long lines during Easter week? "No worries, we'll have fun anyway." Severely limited with regards to FP? "No worries, we'll have fun anyway." Disney making it much harder to travel with large multigenerational groups? "No worries, we'll have fun anyway." Well you know what? I'm tired of trying to find the bright side of Disney. Spending time at the pools WAS the bright side. Now even that is gone.
Label me a grump if you must. But we were really looking forward to that slide. Bah humbug.
Boo on you, Disney. Boo on you.
