We just returned from a quick 5 day trip to WDW. Booked fairly last minute, so we ended up at SSR, but that was ok with us since we had stayed there twice before (when it first opened and once when it was about 75% finished) and had liked that "neighborhood" feeling to the resort. But this was our first visit to the "finished product".

And it was great! There's not another WDW DVC resort with such fantastic landscaping and lush green views. Okay, OKW comes in a close second, but ultimately loses out based on the walkability factor. It's much easier strolling around SSR on the various paths, many of them away from traffic and exhaust fumes. Bunnies, fish, turtles, and exotic birds (at least exotic here in NH) were in plentiful supply. We were in the Paddock this time, a mere 5-7 minute stroll from the main pool or the Carriage House. Also had a smaller pool right outside of our building. We thought this was an ideal location, away from the hustle & bustle of the Carriage House, but still just a short walk away from the amenities.

We had a car, so only used the MK bus on one day, but both coming & going we were on the bus within 10 minutes of arriving at the bus stop. Certainly not a scientific determination of bus efficiency, so all I can say is it worked out well for us.

All in all, we were extremely impressed with how SSR turned out. It's a beautiful resort with, as I said, the best landscaping hands down of any WDW DVC resort. We're not owners at SSR - VWL & AKV is where we spend most of our time - but we are indeed happy visitors.

We couldn't agree more! We love SSR so very much. You described its beauty so well, and in addition to the outside beauty, this inside rooms are so posh. :lovestruc We love our home away from home, thanks for taking me back to it with your description!
PS...we are from NH too....Portsmouth, what part are you from?

We agree with you exactly! The landscaping, walking paths, relatively easy distances to main buildings - and all the wildlife we saw there too on our last stay. It is a lovely resort. Thanks for the report!

We own at SSR and consider it our "Home" so you won't hear us saying we "ended up staying at SSR". We love the grounds, the rooms, the views and the Turf Club. We have stayed at OKW "nice but not as nice as SSR" and VB "Will get an Ocean view Inn Room next time instead of a Studio" and hope to stay at other DVC resorts as well, but most are difficult to get into at the 7 month mark. So consider us SSR lovers.

We are from NH as well, East Wakefield.

word for word how we feel, SSR really is a vacation. Most people in WDW are racing to catch the bus, to get the magic hours and early start, we enjoy the relaxed pace... The kids love the activities EVERY day, and most of the crafts and such are free!
We'll be home in August.. Can't wait.

If you like SSR, great, but I don't think you can fairly say that there are relatively easy distances to the main buildings. The word "relative" means you are comparing to the other DVC resorts. At BCV, BWV and AKL the units are actually IN the main buildings. At VWL the units are about 40 yards from the main building under a covered walkway.

This is not to say that having the units spread way out is not far superior. But the distances are not relatively easy.

Whoa....Where does is say "relatively easy in comparison to the other DVC resorts?" You have totally put words into another post! The post is simply stating that the walks were not easy and not hard, they were relatively or moderately, somewhat, quite, rather, reasonably, fairly, more or less easy. And thus, everyone's opinion of what is relatively easy would also need to be taken into account. If you jog 5 miles a day, the walk would likely be very easy, if you have a broken leg, the walk would be very difficult.

And BTW--the BCV are in a seperate building from the BC. There is a covered walkway, but you do have to go outside.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay! We are staying at SSR for the first time in November and I can't wait.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We'll be staying @ SSR for a couple of nights in August and can't wait!!!! :yay:
We haven't been there since they first opened and are looking forward to seeing the changes. We call OKW & AKV's our home, but are in love with all the DVC resorts and just can't get enough!!!!
