SSR questions

Hi we will be at SSR in 15 days it will be our first trip home can't wait. I have a couple of questions, do they have a counter service restraunt or do they have pizza delivery? we have one night where just the adults will be going out for dinner and it would be easier to have one of these two options for the kids instead of my DD making dinner for them. Also is it too late to request a certain area? We are staying in a Grand Villa and am not sure where the best place would be, we have 11 people two of which are grandparents and am not sure about the distance of things for them. TIA

There is a counter service restaurant in the Carrage House. You might want to check out the menu here on the DIS or at AllEars. There is also a MacDonalds at DTD as well as Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express where someone could get take out to bring back to the villa if that is your intent.

If you want to be near the main pool and community hall you should request the Springs area. We prefer Congress Park or Grandstand but then do not care about being near the main pool and really like the pools at either of those places.

For Pizza, call for a Giordano's delivery. Way, way better than any pizza the "mouse" makes!
I believe the # I called last week was 407 239-8900 They deliver right to your room at SSR.

We were there last week and saw a lot of Papa John's delivery cars coming and going.

But there is a very good counter service restaurant at the Carriage House as mentioned in the above post.

I really like the Artist Pallette counter service at SSR. Good soups, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas. They also have a well stocked grocery area for frozen snacks and such.

The Springs section is the closest to the Carriage House, but the Grandstand area is short walk away - and an easy walk. I find walking from Congress Park to the Carriage House a hassle, since you can't just walk along the water, you have have to cut up to the road and follow that (not very scenic).

SSR will recieve your reservation 5 days before check in so call SSR then to request a certain area.

We just returned from a 10 night stay (in a 1 bedroom unit) and we were in the Grandstand area. While it was first floor and had no view (other than of the parking lot), we did like the location. It was very close to the bus stop (and the first stop to pick up and drop off). Our unit was also just behind the Grandstands pool and it was nice to take a quick dip in the pool or hot tub. We were also a short walking distance from the main pool/area w/ restaurants.

We liked the food at Artist's Palette although we only ate a late lunch there on our arriving day and breakfast one day. I believe they have heartier (hot entree) selections for dinner. We enjoyed WolfGang Puck's Express in Downtown Disney and brought home some take out from them as well as dining there.

I'm going to be at SSR alone in October and was wondering what building you were in? Normally DH and I stay at Congress Park and love that section. But since I'm alone this trip I think I'd like to be closer to the Carriage house and restaurants. So if you remember your building that would be a help.

Our unit number was 8130. There was a studio next door to us (8132 I believe). Hope that helps!

I must be the only one who doesnt like them, their suace is just too chunky for me

They do have delivery but its mediocre at best. Plenty of places will deliver but it get fairly pricey, I dont care what ads are running on tv, seems the pizza chains dont apply those deals to delivery to WDW property (at least that has been my experience) The flatbread pizza at the artist pallette is pretty good tho.
