Does SSR ever "book-up"/sell out?

I currently have a split stay reserved at SSR and Beach Club, I am wait listed for the Beach Club (2 bdrm villa). I know it is a slim chance.

BUT - I really don't want to do a split stay.

What are the chances at 31 days if the waitlist doesn't come through that the 2 remaining nights (Monday and Tuesday night) that SSR will still be available?

Thanks - Carrie

Yes, SSR is often sold out. It usually takes longer to sell out than most of the other WDW DVC resorts, though. For example, there are many (most) nights in December that are already booked up for studios and 2 bedrooms.

Your chances depend on the villa size and your dates. It slso depends a bit on the popularity of the time with the general public. 60 days prior, any unreserved nights can be made available to the general public. The night are still available to DVC members paying with points (or cash), but members must compete with the general public for them.

I'm sure there are many here who will be happy to give you a "best guess", but we'll need your dates and villa size to do so.

HH, VB, VGC and Aulani owners who want to stay at a WDW resorts, have to stay somewhere so all WDW DVC resorts could be booked.

Not many WDW DVC resorts owners will book at HH, VB, VGC or Aulani if WDW isn't available.

Perhaps instead of booking a split stay, book your entire stay at SSR now, if possible, with a wait list at Beach Club. That way you have a reservation for your entire trip. I did this a couple of years ago when I did want a split stay so I could attend a conference the last half of my week at WDW. I was wait listed for those 3 days and I was fortunate that it came through.

I am looking for a 2 bedroom villa, it will be a Monday and Tuesday in January, the 19 and 20.

Weekend is already booked...at SSR, Mon/Tues at BCV

I know Beach Club is a LLLOOONNNGGG shot, but they were the only resort (other than AKV) that had ANY of the days I was looking for...

Keep checking the website. IMO, you have a very good chance of getting those two nights at SSR. Keep in mind that if you do not want to move, you need to have the exact same villa type booked for all nights. SSR has both 2-bedroom lock off villas and 2-bedroom dedicated villas. As of right this second, both types show availability for those two nights.

If you book the two nights online, call MS and ask to have the reservations combined. That way you will not have to move, or even check-out and back in again between the reservation you already have and the additional two night reservation you just made. A combined reservation will appear to the room assigner and the resort as one continuous reservation.

If you really want BCV you can waitlist there after you have the SSR reservation nailed down. There are 3 different booking categories for 2-bedroom villas at BCV, so it may be a challenge to get something there.

Good luck!

Now that I have re-read your post, I may have misunderstood your objective.

It appears that you really do not want to stay at SSR, but if nothing else is available, then you prefer the entire stay at SSR over a split stay.

If that is the case, and also assuming you do not have enough points to hold the entire SSR reservation until the one you until the one you want is secured, my advice is to book the entire reservation at SSR and waitlist the entire stay at the resort(s) you'd prefer. Chances of the longer waitlist coming through are less, but there is also zero risk of having to move. Only you know if a split stay (worse case) is a risk you are willing to take. If yes, you'll have to check the website frequently and jump on any days that become available. That may be a problem if you have to cancel something at SSR before you do so - especially if it's a day in the middle of the SSR stay.

Personally, I wouldn't wait much past the 60 day mark to book the missing nights at SSR, but I wouldn't be surprised if you could still do so 30-31 days prior. The best chance of a waitlist coming through now will be at 31 days prior - when those who aren't sure they will go tend to cancel to avoid the holding account issue.

Note that BCV is small and has three booking categories for 2 bedrooms, so that one is probably a long shot and will require both of your waitlist entitlements.

BWV (Pool/Garden), BLT (Lake View) AKV (Kidani) are probably the most likely to come through.

Good luck!

Thank you SO much for your advice!
The BWV(my personal favorite) and BLT might be a good option too...
I really appreciate your help,
