SSR proven great again!

Wow! Just returned from a beautiful week at SSR. Man was the weather awesome! I stayed at SSR in the Paddocks. The week was completely sold out and you would never know it. The resort felt peaceful and not crowded. Buses were running just fine and never too full. Pool temperature was perfect! Wasn't crowded either. The new area is coming along well. I tried to peek at the new pool area, but couldn't get very close. According to one of the CM's at SSR the new pool will be bigger than a quiet pool and will have lots of water activities (whatever that means).Turf Club restaurant was excellent and very busy (good sign). Also, the resort is starting to fill in with vegetation. Maturing quite nicely. For those who have not yet stayed...you may want to give it a try.

Going back in December and looking forward to it!

Great to hear! We stayed at BWV's a few weeks ago, but I had to take a walk around SSR to see our home. I had not been there since the resort had just opened (May 2004). DW stayed in January when her and her sister ran the Disney Half marathon.

I walked over from DTD and was blown away. The resort has matured quite nicely. I love the peaceful atmosphere, looking forward to going back home soon!

We stayed at SSR last wekk for the first time and LOVED it!! The room was clean, the CMs were great, everybody welcomed us home, we loved the pool!!! My kidss loved the little waterslide! The resort really relaxes you and we needed that after a few hours at the parks with little ones. The only thing I did not like, the Artist Palette had a strange smell to me. I may have been the pizza oven, not a horrible smell just strange. NO big deal, I could live with it!! The resort has one of the nicest security guards a the front gate also! We are going to try every resort and then pick a favorite! As long as I'm near the mouse, I'm happy!

Nutz, thans for the quick report. Did the CM's tell you when the new pool and the Grandstand area (The villas near this pool) would be open? We will be there December 16th, and would love to stay in that section.

According to the CM the remaining buildings start opening up in January (one per month). Given where the pool is located, I doubt it will be open before late spring.

Glad you enjoyed SSR!!! We just returned yesterday from a "mini trip" to the Food and Wine Festival. We stayed this time at the BWV. Wasn't the weather wonderful??? 90's each day and while there was some humidity, it was no way as humid as it is in July.

Where is the new pool going to be? Is it the area when you first come on the property? I was there in July and they were really working hard to get things moving.

Thanks for the great report. Our first stay is coming soon and we can hardly wait. I too would be interested in knowing when they start booking the new sections. We'll be arriving december 2nd. I'm not really concerned about where they put us but we'd love any kind of water view.

THANKS! We are staying there in January and since it wasn't our first choice I was nervous. But your report and the few others out there for SSR are making me feel better. Can't wait to see it.

I agree 100%. We were in SSR two weeks ago and I wrote a glowing review on this board. I think SSR is a beautiful resort and once the construction is over, I really think it will be in demand. Glad you had a great trip.

We just got home yesterday from our second stay at SSR, and again, it was great. Each time we stay there, we talk about how it may be our favorite DVC (but, come to think of it, we say that while staying at most of the DVC resorts).

We spent most of the day at the main pool on Saturday, and it was so relaxing. Had a few drinks, watched the kids play their games, had a few dips. I even tried the gym facilities at the Spa. Ran on the treadmill while watching the Nebraska-Texas game. (Unfortunaley, they didn't televise the Ohio State game )

We were just there last week as well and I could not agree more with the OP. This was our first time staying there and we were completely blown away. We stayed in the Congress Park area and it was beautiful. I cannot believe that it was full because there were times we had the quiet pool to ourselves! It was so nice to let our son play on the playset and listen to the music from DTD. Pure heaven. We walked to DTD one day and it did not take us more than 5 minutes to do so. We were not planning on going back until next December but now think that we might go in February AND we are thinking about adding on!

I was very impressed with the place, the staff, and everything about it. I plan to e-mail them about it as well. They should know how amazing they are.

OMG I cannot wait to go in February !!! We stayed at BWV in Sept. for our first trip as owners and loved it. Your review was great and my next trip cannot come soon enough !!!
