I'm currently staying at SSR, and there are some major mixups going on.

I got in very late (midnight) last night. When I went in my room, it had not been made up from the previous guest. I called and someone was supposed to come and get me and take me to a new room. No one ever showed up so I finally went back to check-in.

I just thought - okay it was a mistake. It happens. I get another room assignment. I go in. Good the bed is made. The table had food all over it, but I was just going to get a wash cloth and clean it myself. Then I go in the bathroom, and it is gross. Toothpaste and something brown in the sink.

This room has had T&T service, but not a real cleaning. So I go back to the front desk. A new clerk - he goes to the back. I take a nap on that round couch thing waiting for him to finally return.

So I go to the third room (in the third building) having carried my luggage up to the 4th floor of the first building, 3rd floor of the second building, and then to the 2nd floor of the third building. I wonder if I would have eventually gotten on the first floor if I'd had to go to room 4.

The room is perfect - yeah - it's almost 2 am, but I have a great room.
Today (after being in the room for just a few hours) I get T&T service. Wasn't expecting that. I feel bad that I left the room in a mess (didn't unpack very well at 2 am) and that I didn't leave a tip. This mousekeeper is really good.

Some wires are getting crossed somewhere. Just a few minutes ago they tried to deliver a crib to my room.

I've stayed here several times before and never had any problems. I wonder if they have new management. Let's hope the rest of my week goes smoother.

The crib was probably for the people who were originally going to be given that room before they moved you into it. I can see that happening, but why T&T right away. We once had a mixup at OKW where we got T&T a couple of days in a row by accident.

Hi Arminnie,

I hope the rest of your stay goes smoother!!

SSR shouldnt be anywhere near capacity this week, so you would think you would have had a choice of rooms and not get someone else's. 2 times at that!

Did they try to explain all the errors?

Have a great trip and don't ride Mission Space without me! :rotfl2:

I was never going to post my horrible trip report from SSR but I feel compelled to share my experience with a resort that I will NEVER stay at again. My DH and I used Magical Express and arrived at SSR before our room was ready. No big deal...we checked our carry on bags at bell services and were assured that they would be delived in our room with our other bags when they arrived from Magical Express.

The DH and I went and met up with fellow DisBoard'ers at VWL (great time by the way) and periodically called SSR to see if our room was ready yet. It wasn't ready until after 4:30 (even though check-in I believe is at 4). We get to the room around 5 after switching buses to get back to the resort and head to our room. Our luggage from Magical Express is there but the carry on baggage that we check isn't. DH calls to bell services and talks to the manager who assures him that it will be delived in 10-15 minutes. An hour later DH calls back and the manager apologizes. He says 5-10 minutes. We have dinner reservations at 7 o'clock. DH needs his medicine. I need make-up and other twoiletries. We need toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. Basically all of the things that you need to make yourself clean and presentable for a nice dinner were in those carry on bags.

Once again we wait an hour. It's now 7 o'clock. We missed dinner but thought we could catch a bite to EPCOT. DH calls back an is told that the luggage is 'on route' with other luggage to be delivered around the resort. DH is told it should be in our room within a half hour. A half hour passes and DH calls bell services again. Manager says that the luggage is still being delivered and he cannot make contact with the delivery person. Another hour passes and DH calls again. Manager said that our luggage was delived to our room. Funny...we didn't get it. DH hangs up the phone and tells me that SSR lost our luggage. DH is about to leave the room and walk to bell services when our phone rings. It's the manager from bells services who informs us that our luggage is sitting beside the bell services check-in station and that it would be deliverd in 5-10 minutes. This time it arrived in about 7 minutes and its now 9:30.

For those of you wondering why we just didn't go pick up the luggage ourselves.... We were told by the MANAGER that it would be delived, we were ASSURED that it would be delivered, we were told that it was ON A VAN.

We only stayed there three days before transferring to the Boardwalk (planned transfer). Bell services picked up our luggage in the morning and told us that it would be over at BWV before 3 o-clock. Guess what!!!!!! It never got to the Boardwalk until 5:00 and that was only because bell services at the Boardwalk called SSR at 4:30 when we questioned where our luggage was.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Maybe the T&T was done for you to say sorry for the inconvience?

Our friends are famous for complaining if their room is not perfect. Last time at the Boardwalk one of the Kitchen knobs was sticky, she called housekeeping, made them come and reclean the whole kitchen and they gave them full housekeeping every day for 10 days!

Zoomsharedisney, so glad you got the Puxatanny Phil photos out before you left that luggage with those bell service folks! It was great to meet you at VWL. I think your experience is one of the reasons we will probably never take ME. DH HATES to let anyone else handle luggage, so he wont let bell services touch it. He would hate leaving it for ME.

We have a very late arrival tonight--around 11--hope we have a better experience

Zoom,
Sorry this all happened to you. Was this a ME problem or an SSR problem ? I'm a little confused because you stated you would never stay at SSR again, yet I think a ME mixup (and this was a big one) could happen at any WDW resort---not just SSR ? Maybe I missed something ? I am considering using ME for our next trip but I am a little hesitant from reading several troublesome reports.

Maria, I think Zoom was saying that SSR bell services was at fault, since they are the ones who left the bags at the bell desk instead of dellivering them when they said they did, and SSR bell services is who "forgot" to send the bags on to the BWV.

It wasn't an ME problem. They checked their carry-on bags themselves with Bell Services at SSR when they arrived. (The ME bags were in the room when they got to it).

The carry on bags are the ones that took forever to be delivered in spite of several calls to the manager. IMHO, the manager should have gotten personally involved when the second call was made - very poor service on his/her part.

Best wishes -

Thanks Diane and Carol. I had a feeling I had misunderstand and that's why I asked the question. I agree Carol about the fact that the manager should have gotten more involved.
Again, sorry to the OP for the trouble they endured.

As a new member of DVC (and at SSR) I get a little nervous reading these type of posts and am happy to read equally positive things about SSR. My question is Does DVC spend any time on these boards? Being Disney I can't believe that they can't get these problems solved in a nanosecond. Is it management or a pervasive laxadasical attitude? I wonder if SSR is just to big and impersonal. I just hope they get it figured out... Are you listening DVC??? :listen:

Actually, we do know they read here. Not sure they read it ALL, but one would hope so. It might make for better service for all of us! You should see some of the scathing comments over on the TUG board! Some of those folks think Disney and DVC have horrible service and accommodations.

Personally I wouldn't be too worried. I have read bad reports about every resort. Even Poly concierge, GF, all of the moderates - you name it, there is a bad report about it somewhere.

No where is going to be perfect and people are more likely to talk about the negative than the postive.

It will be ok :)

Exactly. DW and I (with DS25) had a 2BR at SSR the week before Christmas and had better service than could be expected. When we showed up at 9:30AM to check in (having just spent 1 night at OKW), they not only had a room for us, but offered us several to choose from. No cleanliness issues, room just great. Whenever we did ride a bus, longest wait was 15 minutes (and folks at the stop said we just missed the AK bus). And - most important of all, of course - LOTS of "Welcome Home"s from security to front desk clerk - even one bus driver said it as he dropped us off!

I never would have mentioned this here on the DIS because, frankly, it's boring. (Now the story about the 2 cheerleaders and the racoon at Fantasia Gardens - woo hoo, that's a hot one! :rotfl2: ). But I'm quite certain that the majority of those who stay at any of the DVC resorts have positive experiences - but never post about them.

IMHO - YMMV
Be well!
