SSR Pool Pics

Thanks for the great pics of High Rock Springs Pool -- I've never noticed the bird houses in previous pics. Not being overly familiar with the flora and fauna of Florida, do you think these are purple martin houses (just like the ones in Ontario). Definitely a thoughtful way to control the bug population at SSR without the use of chemical sprays -- but will the birds use the boxes in such a high traffic location? Perhaps bat boxes are needed to help keep even more of the bug population down.
One more question -- how many points did the birds have to purchase to get their DVC membership?

Those are not really bird houses, they are lights. They camoflaged the lights to look like birdhouses. You can see them in this photo:

However, down by the units they do have real birdhouses on the water side of the buildings.

We noticed the bird houses hiding the lights - great touch. The birds loved them!

Can you tell me about the pool slide? Did you try it? I love slides! What I don't like is when they go dark...is it at all dark inside or does it stay light the whole way down? Can you sit up or do they make you lie down? thanks!

The slide is way cool. Very fast and fun ride. Our kids (and I) put it on par with the slide at Beach Club (SAB) and the Polynesian.

About 1/3 of the slide (as I remember) is inside and 2/3 exposed. Many turns.

You can sit up if you wish. I like the light at the top that instructs you that you are the next one up.

I think you will enjoy it.

Thank you. When you say that some of it is inside, do you mean pitch dark or that you are enclosed, but there is still plenty of light to see your way through?

Another question: What time of day was it? Looks like there weren't too many folks in the pool. It does look good! Going to put SSR on our list of places to stay on future trips.

Jillpie by the looks of it I would venture to guess it is dark inside the covered parts. It looks like it goes through the rocks which would lead me to believe it is dark inside. Thanks for the pics it looks like a great pool with an awesome slide.

I think 3 sides are lights but teh back side does have holes for the birds to nest in. At least they are that way at the main pool.

When I say inside I am saying it is a "tube" and you are totally enclosed. I do not think there are lights inside, but, I did not go down the slide at night.

As for the crowds - we had the pool to ourselves basically. Since they do not have much of the resort open, only a few folks were swimming. I am sure in time that will change.
