SSR or VWL...what would you do ?

We (me, DH, DS31 and DS17) are booked in a dedicated 2 bdr at SSR, our home resort, in April 2015. We love SSR and have stayed there several times.
But we are thinking about changing to VWL at 7 months, which would use all our points for 2015 and 2016 and also some one time use points.
We've never stayed at VWL, and aren't sure if it's a good fit for us. Myself and DS31 are all for trying a new place, but DH and DS17 are more hesitant - they both don't really like trying new places or things. Although DH loved BWV when I finally convinced him to try it.
So, if you were me; would you keep SSR, and let DH and DS17 stay in their familiar place, or would you book VWL and give it chance ?

I love VWL and think the experience would be worth it. It is so much smaller than SSR, it has a very nice villa pool, the weather could be nice for bike riding over to the campground and the boat ride to MK, Contemporary area or the campground are things you can do.

To save points can you try 2 studios? Roaring Fork is a pretty nice counter service restaurant, then you have Whispering Canyon and Artist Point as sit down.

Both of our home resorts so I understand your dilemma in choosing

Have you considered a split stay? We love to stay @ SSR for the beginning of our trips then move onto VWL to see MK and relax.
