There are not many resort options for our summer trip unless we want to do a split stay with 3+ resorts...but we just got our DVC and have expiring points we need to use so I'm not complaining - I'm going to Disney so it's all good :-)

The question is, would you recommend SSR or OKW? We are staying 6-8 nights in a studio...OKW uses less points if that makes a difference (13 fewer points).

Can you please let me know why you prefer one over the other as well? We are a family of 3, two adults and a 12 year old girl.

BTW, the reason I say maybe only 6 nights is that there is availability at Vero Beach for the two nights at the end of our trip. So if anyone has an opinion on Vero Beach I'd love to hear that feedback as well! It would make our drive home a couple hours longer (10-11 hours vs. 8-9)...is it worth it?!

Thanks!

OKW studios have two queen beds, so if your daughter doesn't want to sleep on a pull-out, that might be a deciding factor. Also, OKW studios have large porches so if someone is an early riser, it's easier to go outside and sit at OKW with a nice big comfortable porch than it would be at SSR.

Vero is lovely, but it's very isolated. We had to drive almost 30 minutes to get to restaurants so we ended up calling DVC and they let us switch back to a Disneyworld resort to complete our vacation. It was too isolated for us. Hilton Head is totally different - plenty of restaurants and things to do close by the resort. If I would have had a full kitchen (one bedroom) at Vero, it might have made a difference, too.

Congratulations on your points, by the way!

I like both OKW and SSR, but I SSR is a great place to relax and be close to Downtown Disney. I like the pools better as well. Vero beach is a great resort and if you can do 2 days at the end of the trip it would be worth it. A complete relaxing environment after the hustle and bustle of WDW. There are great restaurants close by the resort but you need to ask the staff for recommendation. Plus make sure you ask the guys that rent chairs and such at the beach for recommendations. They gave us some great places to dine that were close as well.

Do you remember how close the restaurants were? The PP said they had to drive almost 30 minutes so were there things closer?

Also, what is there to do at Vero...besides enjoy the beautiful beach of course ;)

Hi Tutor,

OKW is our home resort so maybe I am partial, but it has more of a feel like you are living in your own personal condo. But I have stayed at both and like both.

From OKW, you can get to downtown Disney by boat. Idk about SSR, but they are both on the same waterway and very similar location-wise. It just takes a couple of minutes to drive from one resort to the other if you've got a car. The spa is at SSR. OKW has a restaurant, Olivia's, that serves amazing grits at breakfast.

Something to think about: Because the points are so low, we always spring for the 1-bdrm at either of those resorts. For a long stay having the laundry in the unit makes it totally worth it vs. a studio! Plus the 1-bdrm. has the jacuzzi tub :) Also for a long trip we find it's worth it to rent a car so we can shop at Publix and make use of that big kitchen in the 1-bdrm.

We haven't stayed at SSR yet but loved OKW last summer! The pool was nice, the kids loved the games and community hall. We had a HH room and it was all very convenient.

I vote OKW, but again haven't stayed at SSR (yet).
