What would your suggest for kids 9-6 and 2 adults? Need pool and good bus service. TY Looking for studios

SSR because two of the pool areas have a lot for kids to do such as slides and so forth. One is the Rock Springs pool and the other is the newly open Paddock pool area. We had no issues with the bus system during our recent stay. You are a short walk from DTD.

We have stayed at both with our kids. I don't think you'll be disappointed whichever you finally choose. We are partial to OKW studios. They are roomier and with two queen size beds as opposed to the queen and a sofa sleeper at SSR. The balcony at OKW is more substantial also. We found the bus transportation more convenient at OKW than when we stayed at SSR. DD is a nice boat ride away from the resort if that is on your list of things to do.

:thumbsup2 SSR
My kids love SSR and we have been going since they were 5 & 4 years old

Both are great, pools and buses. OKW will have two beds instead of a bed and sofa bed if that makes a difference.

Thank you for the responses. These are the only resorts available for rental for my dates. I have never stayed at either and was worried about the buses with to grand-daughters 9-6. Any help with room requests would be appreciated for OKW. TY

Ask to be near a pool. There are 4 at the resort, and there are also 5 bus stops. You will always be somewhat near a bus stop, and all buses, no matter where they are going, will stop at the hospitality house where the main pool is located. That means you can easily get there without walking should you choose to not want to do that. Our favorite buildings that are not in the HH category would be 15 or 16 for easy access to both HH and Miller's Road. We love buidings 45 and 46, but this wont likely be as interesting for the kids, since it is a little farther to the pools from there.

Here's the map:

Great Map! It looks so spread out! What is the advantage of 15-16 or Millers Road? I like the larger space, balcony, and 2 queen beds that OKW offers.

The SSR fans- What location is good for the pool and buses? My grand-daughters (along with my husband) will not appreciate a long trek on a hot June afternoon. I love walking, but I am imagining the whining now! LOL

With the exception of the Carosel, each section has a pool. The pool is not always centrally located within the section, though, so there may be more of a walk from some rooms than others.

The Carousel section does not have its own pool, but isn't too far from the Paddock to walk to its pool. The Congress Park area has a quiet pool only (no lifeguards, activities, or slide). The Grandstand also has a quiet pool, but this one has an adjoining water play area and a bar. The Tree House section also has a quiet pool, but that isn't applicable to you if you're looking for a studio.

The larger pools with daily activities are the High Rock Spring pool, which is at the Carriage House (check in area and location of the 2 big restaurants). This pool is very close to most of the rooms in the Springs section. The pool has a water slide and a very small water play area. It's also close to the Community Hall and the arcade.

The Paddock has a newly-renovated pool that now features a spiral water slide and a large children's water play area. It also has a quick-service restaurant and bar.

The lifeguards do daily activities like races, games, and dance parties at both the High Rock Spring and Paddock pools.

Each section is close to a bus stop. The order of park busses is Grandstand -> Carousel -> Paddock -> Congress Park -> Springs. The order for the Downtown Disney bus is reversed. So you can always catch a bus to get to a destination within the resort if you chose. (Although it's almost always quicker to walk.)

The only cautionary remark with regard to the busses is that during the busiest times of the day (in the morning when everyone is heading out to the parks, mostly), the busses can be standing room only by the time they reach the Springs. So, while the Springs is most convenient to the main pool, the restaurants, and the front desk, there is this price to pay when catching a bus.

Here's the resort map: (Note, this is an older map that still shows the playground at the Paddock pool (now gone) and doesn't show the new restaurant.)

We stayed in the Spring it was very short walk to the bus stop and a very short walk to the RockSprings pool which is across the street.

Be aware that SSR has elevators, and OKW only has 3 buildings with elevators. You could have to walk up one or two flights of stairs at OKW.
