SSR or OKW?

Has anyone stayed at both SSR and OKW? We spent our first two on-site visits at OKW (pre new pool) and were very pleased. Our second two visits were spent at BCV and I am looking for a different on-site pool/dining/recreation experience. So back to the point of this post, I was wondering if anyone could share their wisdom regarding SSR and OKW and help me in selecting a resort for our next visit. What did you like more or less about one or the other?

If I had a choice it would be OKW. I've stayed at both. There is a warmness at OKW that SSR does not have. SSR is too big. No one ever greats you at the front. The food selection is not as great as OKW. The gift shop is too small. The buildings are too far apart. OKW has much larger rooms. The laundry room in OKW is an actual room that you can take out a large ironing board in and still have room to move around. There are other people out there that absolutely love SSR, but I would stay at OKW and my next choice would be VWL. The new pool at OKW is great. My kids love the new slide.

Wow, what a great response. I forgot to ask about the "Welcome Home" greeting. That is something we missed while staying at the BCV. We got it once upon arriving for our last stay, but that was it. Even then I was surprised because BCV is next to BC and YC which are not DVC Resorts. Something else I noticed this year with regards to the greetings was the "Welcome to Disney" on the TV at BCV instead of "Welcome Home". Last year the screen did say "Welcome Home".

I haven't stayed at SSR either but it seems most people love it. Having stayed at OKW a number of times, I have to say SSR seems sort of sterile (can't find a better word) in comparision. Maybe it is just because the vegetation/landscaping is not mature...but, just in catching glimpses of it from the DME bus, the main area didn't seem to have much character. I would like to stay there though, just to be more informed in offering my next opinion!!! All DVC resorts are nice and I do love the proximity of SSR to DD. (Footnote-we stayed in that area three different times way back when the property included the Fairway Villas, the Bungalows, and the Townhouses!!!!)
