SSR or off-site?

I'm taking a Father-Son trip with my 3 year old in July, and we have an opportunity to stay at Saratoga Springs. I've visited there to look around and eat at Artists' Palette, and I'm a little hesitant - it's so far from the parks, and it seems less "magical" than other WDW resorts. I hate to consider staying off-site... any advice?

When I've stayed there I've never had to wait more than 10 -12 mins for a bus and that was when we just missed one ( don't you hate it when you see it pulling away) - You have DTD a walk away which has the LEGO shop - a must do for my 4yo son - and the splash fountains that my kids love running through - i know that they're opening a full service restaurant at SSR - not sure when but should be very soon

I've never stayed offsite so can't advise on that

I'd say if you can stay on-site, stay on-site. I know for $ reasons, which I have done, it just makes sense to stay off-site. That said, still to choose by preference, always stay on-site!

SSR has transportation to the parks!! and it will be a lot faster and more reliable then offsite.
As far as Disney themeing it is very close and you may have a view of Down Town Disney........ and the fireworks at Pleasure island every night.....
SSR is themed after Saratoga Springs NY if that is any help not Diney Hotel is persay Disney themmed. How clsoe it is to a prt of Disney you like is a different story IE: Monorail Hotels. If you like Saratoga Springs and Downtown Disney then it does not gat any better....

I however do not see how any offsite hotel could be better unless price and size for the price is an isssue.......there are just to many advantages to staying on site Howeve i do agree that the price is the biggest disadvantage but Disney does Justify what they charge......IMO

I would definitely stay at SSR rather than stay off site!!!
