DH, DD2 and I will be heading to WDW late Feb/early March. I'm running out of time to decide and DH is being no help :rotfl:

We want a 1 bedroom unit at either BWV or SSR . Where would you stay and why?

I would stay at BWV so I could walk to EPCOT!

SSR looks peaceful from what I've seen, so if you are looking for peace, that would be the way to go.

Personally, I love the hustle and bustle available on the boardwalk.

BWV would be our preference by a significant margin. BWV has its own night life, you can walk (or take a boat) to two parks, EPCOT and studios, and with the other nearby Epcot resorts, EPCOT and Studios, you can walk to over two dozen restaurants. Since you will be seeking a 1BR, usually the last room size to fill, and are going at one of the lowest DVC demand times of the year, you also have a good chance at 7 months out of being able to get boardwalk view, the best view on site, or, if instead you want a point bargain, standard view, which requires fewer points than SSR.

SSR is a large, spread out resort which provides easy access to Downtown Disney but you need to take buses with multiple internal resort stops to all the parks.

I think you've just sold me on BWV :rotfl: The choice was between BWV and SSR because we could walk to "somewhere" either DTD or Epcot, that was my main concern, but I think because I was concentrating on that, that I forgot that we will still need to get to the other places :lmao:

I'd love Boardwalk view, or even just being able to see the tops of the fireworks, but I'm stretching the budget to go DVC, so I don't think I can stretch it further for a preferred view :confused3

Thanks for all your help :goodvibes

The ability to walk to DHS and EPCOT is a huge plus for us. Depending on the location of your room, it may even be quicker to walk to DHS than to walk to the lobby and wait for the boat. Unless the boat is already at the dock or we can see it coming from the BCV, we also walk to EPCOT. It's quicker and a very nice walk.

Enjoy your stay - we love the BWV and the surrounding area.

We stayed at BWV and really enjoyed it! We were waaaay down at the end of the hallway, but found the walk to the boat dock a piece of cake once we figured out all the little short cuts around the pool. I had a sprained ankle, and the distance was not a problem.

We are staying at SSR in December so I have been spending a lot of time looking at that one too, and am really excited about the more "relaxed" vibe. I am hoping we get in the section we want (fingers-crossed).

BWV hands down! Love the views and walking/boating to Epcot & DHS. Love walking around the boardwalk at night with all the activity. To be honest, I've visited SSR but never had the desire to stay there.

We've stayed at both and both have there advantages. Saratoga is nice, if your driving, you can park right outside your room. We had a room near the bus stop and the pool. So that was really nice. Draw back is your a ways from the parks. Boardwalk is all around awesome. We don't mind the long walk in the hallways. Your in disney for crying out loud. It's got shops, restaurants and plenty of entertainment. And most of all, walking distance to two parks! I say try them all!!

I would absolutely choose the BWV's for the location and it's a great resort!

We own at SSR and I really like the quaint, quietness of the resort. But if you want to be in the middle of the action with few worries BWV is the place for you.

All else being equal I'd say BWV but factors that might push me to SSR would be that it might be a few less points, a dedicated 2 BR (not an issue for you though), having a car, several Dining plans for DD, golf plans, kids afraid of clown pool.

We are SSR owners and absolutely love it! So peaceful and relaxing. With that being said I'm very excited that we just got our wait list at BWV for January. Our hope to to stay everywhere!

With a 2 year old I'm not sure how much the "nightlife" of either location will be a factor.
I know others have said you must bus from SSR to DTD but honestly if you are able to get in the Congress Park section, you'll be less than 5 minutes to the main building and pool, roughly 10 minutes walking distance from the Marketplace side of DTD, and a quiet pool right there. Being near the Marketplace affords you many accessible restaurants including Wolfgang Puck Express a much better QS option than Artist's Palette. When we stay at SSR we often get breakfast at WPE plus at least one early night "stay at home" dinner; you can call an order in and it'll be ready for pickup probably by the time you get there or shortly after. Plus some people really really dig having the on site spa. Turf Club is a pretty good restaurant and practically always good for a walk up with no reservations. Two feature pools, great location if anyone golfs, close to Disneyquest and the multiplex for rainy days...and if either of you loves to shop, no brainer.

Ok, enough of the hard sell. You're going to pick Broadway Villas and I really don't blame you. Great to be so close to 2 parks. But SSR deserves better than the red headed stepchild status it usually gets. And with a 2 year old, it has some benefits you might not have thought about prior.

Oh and speaking of 2 year olds...many kids are scared crapless from the clown on the main pool's Keister Coaster slide. Heck it's one of the reasons my wife doesn't like BWV (for the record I really do like BWV AND I like clowns so I'm not trying to rip on them). Take a look at the slide and make sure that won't be nightmare fuel for your little one before making the call. And if you choose SSR make sure you request Congress Park.

I own at both and I've stayed at both. I love both equally but for different reasons.

BWV does put you closer to Epcot and DHS without a doubt. And there is a lot to do at night. Plus you have the boats and I'll admit; sometimes I just ride them to relax!! ;) And additionally, in the fall when the Food and Wine Festival is on, you can't beat walking right into Epcot.

SSR is a lovely resort and highly overlooked. People complain about the bus service and I can honestly say that I really don't run into problems. When DH and I want a more relaxing trip we'll stay there. DH has walked over to DTD many times. We love Congress Park and that puts you close to the walkway. And now, I understand that the walkway is being totally renovated so it should be even better. DTD is wonderful anytime but night time is the best!

Either way you can't go wrong. But like someone else said, should you choose SSR, Congress Park will put you close to DTD.
