SSR or AKV?

We have owned at BCV for 5 years and VWL for 3 years. In my experience, BCV to AK is a very quick trip (5 minutes?). I can't believe that AKL to any park is going to be much more, time-wise. This idea that AKL is is far-removed from everything seems far-fetched to me. Please correct my ill-informed logic before I purchase AKV points. :) (Retirement date - 6/6/08)

I agree with you. If you have a car I don't think there is any discernible difference.
I truly believe the theming is so good, that it gives the impression it's far removed. :shamrock:

MG

While the technical distance for AKV may be a little further, there's also less traffic that direction. When driving I'd say for DD it's obviously further and obviously it's further than MK for VWL or MGM for BWV/BCV but otherwise I think it's a wash. Actually I suspect it's even quicker much of the day to Typhool Lagood than from SSR or OKW if you come out by way of DD.

I really felt like AK was not that far, but on the bus from VWL to AK this past January (post the AKV announcement and considering an add-on when presales opened), I actually turned to DH and commented "Whoa - AK is really way-the-heck-out-there".

But - that's keeping in mind Disney transportation that sometimes takes "creative" driving routes. It often takes an eternity to get to DTD or to AK from most places because busses also stop at a waterpark. In a car, doing straight shots, it's not as big of an issue.

I still say that bus transportation at the villias has the potential to make AKV feel like it's too far removed. IMHO, it will all depend on:

1. How many busses they have running.
2. Whether they share busses with the lodge - and if so, whether they pick up the lodge guests first - thus prefilling busses before they get to DVC.
3. How many internal bus stops there are within the villas.
4. Whether the busses do straight routes, or stop at multiple locations (like a waterpark AND DTD)
