I made an 8:45am ADR at Olivia's Cafe, but we are staying at SSR. I'm trying to figure out the best and fastest way to make our ADR on time. How early do the boats start running to and from DTD? How about the buses? We requested Congress Park..if we get a room there maybe we could walk to DTD and jump on the OKW boat if it's running that early. HELP!

I don't think the boats will be running early enough for you to be on time for your ADR, but I could be mistaken. Given how highly I value sleep, I'd save myself some trouble and time and just take a cab. It will be a short ride, yes, but so much easier than trying to take Disney transportation.

Buses will be running in time for you, but not the boats. You could certainly walk from SSR to OKW (a little over 1/2 mile) and then I'd get on any bus at the South Point bus stop for the ride to Olivia's. Your other options are as already noted - get a bus to OKW from DD or take a cab. If taking the bus, I'd allow 45 minutes once you get to DD. If walking, I'd allow 45 minutes (for the walk, plus the bus from South Point) to an hour if you walk the entire way (a little over a mile total). A cab will take no more than 10 minutes total. Even if the boats are running, I'd plan on an hour to be safe (the boat takes about 20 minutes once it leaves the dock from DD).

Enjoy!

I would take a cab. BUT first ask the concierge desk how to make your early ADR. Probably will arrange the cab but it couldn't hurt to ask. Actually, my DH would probably walk<G>

On a nice day walking it is a real winner and probably faster than the buses. At that time of day taking the bus to a park and then back is probably the next quickest. Downtown Disney buses are not that reliable or frequent that early in the morning.

Hijacking a laundry cart probably wins the race hands down:rotfl:

Ditto!!!!!

Check at the front desk at SSR. Many times they are willing to drive you over in a golf-cart!!:):thumbsup2

Another vote for the walk. You'll work up an appetite going, and work it off going back. :thumbsup2

I guess walking will depend on the weather! I'm guessing it will be pretty cold at the end of January? Does anyone have a map showing which way to walk? I will ask at SSR if they will golf cart us! If not..a taxi it is!

The walking trail follows the canal, but you have to cross it first. There is a golf cart bridge along the trail, and while I've taken the trail to DTD many times, I've never actually taken it to SSR. I do think that little bridge is your only way to cross the canal though short of going all the way through DTD. The trail comes into OKW near building 55, and from there it will take you about 10 minutes to walk the rest of the way to Olivias.

We have had such variable weather in January, but with the track record for low temps down there this year, I'm going to guess it could be pretty chilly in the morning. I'd probably take a cab there and then decide after breakfast what to do from there. Frankly, I'd probably decide to take a bus to a park after breakfast.
