SSR Mardi Gras 2011 BOOKED

Just booked a one bedroom the week of Mardi Gras for next year.. Hoping to switch to BLT for our first time visit there at the 7 month window!!

Just thought I'd bring this back to life! I just decided that we're going to go Mardi Gras week as well! I was thinking of booking SSR now, but I think I'll just wait and try to book BWV at the 7 month mark. And if it's booked, I'll just go from there. Anyway, I can't wait!! Just got back from our May trip and ready to go again- I, too love my DVC!

That was my first thought too! I am thinking about making a quick trip at MG time, but was starting to rethink that before reading the body of the post.....

We're booked at AKV Kidani as of now, may try to jump to BLT too ol' buddy! Since we were able to get BLT this year for Pres Wk/Mardi Gras--thinking you should be good to get at BLT.

We are going for Mardi Gras as well. Had no clue when it was even Mardi Gras when I booked DH and I are going for our 11th anniversary. Went for our 10th and figured we would make it a yearly trip. I called at 10 months out and asked about AKL CL studio and it was available for all but the first night we wanted so I grabbed it and we will add a cash night at the Poly CL when and if AP discounts come out.

So does WDW do anything special for Mardi Gras or are all the festivities at Universal?

We are going to be there too.. We are 2 studios at OKW righ now but hoping to change to WL at 7 month window!

We're booked in a 2bedroom at VWL. It also happens to be my DD's 8th birthday since MG is so late in 2011. I booked it about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any problems getting all 8 nights.

WDW does not do anything special for Mardi Gras. However be prepared for large crowds, we went last year and I was like, gee is anyone left in Louisiana and Alabama, the parks were packed.

No, there were still plenty of folks in The Quarter and down on Dauphin Street in Mobile. Even our parade in Pascagoula, MS is 10 people deep the Saturday before Fat Tuesday.

Mardi Gras is not the same week as President's Week in 2011-thank goodness. We always go for Mardi Gras-when both fall in the same week it's very crowded. It's better for the Mardi Gras crowd to have their week and the President's week visitors enjoy their time. Although we have met some wonderful DVCers from the east coast on our MG trips.
Can't wait-my husband & I are also staying at SSR for a long weekend in Oct 2010 for the Wine & Food Fest. That's always a fun time.

I actually got to change to VWL!!!! We are taking the dparents this time, and it's going to be our first trip home using the DVC! I have been to wdw during mardi gras before in 2008 and it was awesome! but last year it was presidents day and valentines day and mardi gras all at the same time. That's why it was so crazy last year. Can't wait! only 7 months!

There isn't anything special that happens in the parks. We just like this time of year because it's nice weather for time of year.

Hey, I'm going for Mardi Gras, also. I had SSR reserved (home resort) but switched to Beach Club Villas a few days ago when I hit the 7 month mark. I am so excited about staying at BCV.

A lot of people from New Orleans go to Disney World the week of Mardi Gras to get away from MG - I guess they are tired of it or don't like it. I love Mardi Gras, but I also love Disney World and since school is out for the week of Mardi Gras - it is a good time for us to go, less crowds and better weather than going in the summer.

Now I just need to wait for the 180 day mark, so I can make my ADRs.
