I will be staying at SSR next year or maybe swap to another resort, anyway our flight to orlando international does not get in until nearly midnight, I was considering staying the first night at one of the airport hotels as we will be very tired. Is possible to still travel on the magical express the following morning or because we have arrived the day before do we have to make our own way to Disney?

Good luck with this one. I think it depends on who you talk to in MS.

We traveled to Dis this past July. We were going to Daytona and dropping my parents off at MCO the following weekend. My thoughts were we'd drop them off, drop off the rental car and take ME to Dis. When I call MS, they said no. I was told you can only take ME on the day you arrive. However, I had been told something different last year by MS and sent a note through dvcmember.com to get the policy (one way or the other) in writing. Here's what I received dated 11/13/2007:

Hi Bridgett:

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

Yes, if you are flying in late and staying at the airport you can use
Disney's Magical Express Service on the next day. However, you must let
us know so that the necessary arrangements are made prior to your
arrival. Just take your luggage with you to terminal B level 1 of the
airport and your luggage will travel with you on the motor coach.

As for the resort airline check, The Resort Airline Check-In service is
operated by a third-party company approved by the Transportation
Security Administration (TSA) on behalf of the participating airlines.

If you have additional questions please contact us at 1-800-xxx-xxxx.

Sincerely,
Ruby

Hi
Personally, I would suck it up and go to your hotel that night. Yes, you will be tired, but... in the morning when you wake up and you are there, you will be so happy. ME probably will not be very crowded when you arrive, so less wait. Pull your own luggage and take it with you and just pack your p.js on top for that night.
Have fun.

Or spend the first night at the Pop Century or All Stars. That way you can take the Magical Express that night and then when you wake up the next morning simply have your luggage transferred to SSR or take a taxi over. :cool1:

On our trip in Oct. we landed at 11:40pm and stayed at the Hyatt at the airport. We picked up our luggage and checked in. In the morning we went downstairs to the ME counter with our luggage and checked in.

We were originally planning on flying in in the morning and had already made arrangements with ME. I called to check and was told that it was not a problem to come to the counter in the morning. And that I should not put the yellow tags on my luggage since I was bringing them myself.

So yes, it can be done.

We have also stayed the night (okay, I guess it was really the morning) at the airport Hyatt and used the Magical Express. We arrived at about 4:00 am, checked into the Hyatt with a "day use" rate that allowed us to sleep, get cleaned up, have some brunch, etc. and then go over to our OKW room when we--and they--were ready for us to check in.
