SSR lockoff and waitlist ???s

DVC newbie here. We received our DVC info last week and I proceeded to make our first ressies for a trip 12/6-12/11. I was unimpressed with the reservation site, BTW. It's nothing more than a glorified e-mail form rather than a real-time site like disneyparks.com. In any case, we were looking for a two-bedroom unit, but they only have a lockoff for 12/7-12/11. Is a lockoff advisable for youngsters (girls 6 & 3)? We're also on the waitlist for a two-bedroom unit....any thoughts on the chances of that coming through based on your experience?

The only concern with a lock-off is the exterior door. If you don't have a problem with them at home, you shouldn't have a problem with a lock-off.
