Doing planning for a last minute booking this October. This will be our first stay at SSR. I notice people seem to request Congress and Paddock areas. Is there a reason NOT to request Springs? Seems like it would be closer to ammenities, but wonder why it never seems to be a favorite choice?:confused3

The Springs is the last bus stop on and off and it can be very crowded and often the buses are standing room only when they arrive there. We loved Grandstands. It was the first bus stop on and off. It has a large quiet pool with a bar and refill station and a fun sprinkler park for kids. It is a quick walk to the Springs for the big pool and counter service. I think its a quicker walk to Springs than any other section. The advantagse of Carousel would be DTD.

Congress Park has wonderful views of DTD that you really can't get at the Springs. However, the Springs area has the main pool and access to the amenities. Previous post is right about the buses and the last stop. I guess it really depends on your preference - do you want access to the main pool, private pool, etc.

I too always wondered why the Springs wasn't a first choice as often as the others. We're just there for one night in July before BLT so I think I'll stay with my Springs choice since we're just there for the pool and not the bus rides to the parks.

I'm really looking forward to trying this resort!:goodvibes

That's one of the nice things about DVC. Now that we know we are going twice a year, we plan more time to enjoy the ammenities at the resort and not do a theme park everyday.

when springs was the first stop - it was in demand - hughly - which is probably why now it is the last stop.

Thanks everyone for the feedback... still confused though;) This will only be a 4day weekend type getaway, and DH and I are really trying to only commit to 2park days..(w/F&WF as the focus).. so I'm not sure if the bus is a priority. Yet the Grandstand pool info sounds good since we like a good bar and if not as many yungins, that could be a draw... thanks again!:thumbsup2

One of the girls going on our Oct trip has MS. We are currently booked in a 2 bedroom at SSR and wait listing at BCV & BWV. If the wait list does not come thru, which area should I request that would minimize her walking. Since I have never stayed at SSR, I have no idea what is there and where we should stay. I'm thinking we would want to be by the main pool and restaurant. But... that may not be the best area, either......
Thanks - Karen

We normally request the grand stand.. the pool is great, its the first bus stop (although on the way out you have to go around to the other bus stops before hitting the road), its a short walk to the main building... all and in all works for us..

as for the pool with the water feature.. there are children there... but has never seemed over crowded to me.. and yes the bar is a good thing for us older kids.. :thumbsup2

We loved staying in the Springs - so close to everything we wanted to be close to. And we don't take the buses to the park so first stop/last stop was not a concern (probably wouldn't be a concern of mine even if we did use the buses).

I prefer Springs for the ease of access to the main pool and resort center as well as the spa itself. We always use our rental car, so the bus stop doesn't matter at all to me.

Congress Park and Springs are our favorite areas. Springs for close proxmity to the main building and Congress Park for views, Downtown Disney and the best non theme pool.
