SSR location question

I booked a studio at SSR for a few family members that will be joining us for part of our trip next week. They will not have a car. I've been looking at the map of SSR and am thinking of requesting either The Springs or The Grandstand. Is one location better than the other? Is The Springs too busy/noisy because it's close to the Carriage Hosue?

TIA :goodvibes

You will find that SSR really has no "noisy" locations for the villas. You will find each a quiet and relaxing place to be. High Rock Springs is certainly the "noisiest" of all the pool areas, but still a delight.

I would recommend the Grandstand area. It offers a less crowded pool, a snack bar, and is close to the Carriage House (therefore, Turf Club, Artist Palette, etc). It is also close to the boat dock for your trips to DTD and elsewhere.

Have a great time! :goodvibes

If your relatives will have young children, I recommend the grandstand. The children's water play area next to the grandstand pool is great and my two year old son couldn't get enough play time in it. Plenty of foutains, water cannons and water spraying from all directions. As the previous post mentioned, the grandstand is also within easy walking distance to the main building where dining/shops/activities are located.

I'd recommend the Springs....

If you get the one complex in the Grandstand close to the carriage house, the previous posters are right and you'd be fine. But two of the complexes are pretty far away, almost halfway to the Treehouses.... If you're in one of those, be prepared for a bit of a hike to almost everything.

We were in the Grandstand with DW's parents (in their 70's) and got one of the farther complexes, and it caused some difficulties.

Just my 2cents....

Thanks for the info! They are traveling with a 10 year old. It's his first trip and he can't wait to get to the pool. I'm going to put in a request today :goodvibes

One other thing to consider if it might be an issue is that Grandstand is the first bus stop and Springs is the last. We personally liked being in Grandstand and being first on/first off but I can see where it would be nice to get on at Springs and head straight to the park. Only problem is the bus can be pretty full by the time it reaches Springs.

Either way I think both sections are great.

Hello, I will be staying at here for the first time in November. Where can I find a map of the place? I have stayed at OKW many times and have seen this resort from the water. I have two girls 14 and 12 so I know they want the pool area. When we stay at the boardwalk we like the quiet pool, less noise, but I want to be close to the boat dock..What would you recommend?

I stayed in the Grandstands in 2008. It is first on the bus stop and a close walk to the main pool and check-in.

Thanks for the posts on this. We are staying at SSR for the first time in Oct. Been trying to figure out which area to request. Looks like our wait list for BCV or BWV isn't going to come thru so I need to do some homework on SSR.

I read this thought so often, but keep heart! You will not be disappointed with the SSR experience! It is indeed different than other resorts; it certainly allows you to relax in a more laid back disney environment, without getting hit on the head at every turn with characters, etc. But have no doubts, it is Disney through and through. Disney will shout at you from the details! It is a wonderful family environment with lots to do. Be sure to check out the Community Hall for those "stay at the resort" days.

Have a great time!

"The Springs"

It's about location for us...the close proximity
to the Carriage House, High Rock Springs Pool,
Dock, Laundry services, Arcade and restaurants
are all but a 5 min. walk from there.

Good Luck and say Hi to the Mouse for us!:worship::smickey:

How far of a walk is it from the Springs to Downtown Disney? Or...can you walk it? Wre have that section requested now, but I'm wondering if we should change it.
We want to be walking distance to the restaurants and still be able to walk to Downtown Disney. Is that even possible at SSR??
There are 5 adults going that are all mobile and can walk.
Thanks -

Absolutely you can walk from SSR to DTD :thumbsup2. The walk from Congress Park to Downtown Disney is about 15 minutes at a strolling pace. To the Carriage House and the main pool is about 5 minutes but there is a quiet pool in Congress Park. Try to request a lake view as the lights shining on the lake in the evening from DTD are gorgeous!!
