SSR Location question

We are new members, not quite a week since we signed up. We need some advice on what location to look for at SSR for our developer points reservation. We are interested in walking to DD and also since we won't have a car, are interested in the best location in relation to the bus stops. We are totally unfamiliar with the SSR property.

If you want to walk to DD then Congress Park is the section. Building 16 is directly across from the Congress Park bus stop.

Have fun....it's a beautiful resort. I'll be there in October.

We have always been lucky and gotten Congress Park. We have loved the views. It is great for walking to DTD.

Although the property is large, the bus stops all seem to be a reasonable walk from your room. When it comes to location, for me it's all about the pool. We stayed at the Springs, which was convenient to the pool and main building, but a distance from DTD.

If it's operations fits your schedule, try the boat from SSR to DTD!
I was in Grandstand, and did the typical walk to the East side. (Was not thrilled how close the East path got to the road, you never walk that close to traffic at Disney) The boat ride back from the East side was perfect (As we got to the dock less than a minute to departure).

When we were there last week, I also noticed there is a path (seen from the boat dock) to the West side of DTD, but I guess that is really only close to Cirque. The start of that path would be closer to Grandstand, though. (And then I guess you could take the DTD shuttle boat to get to the other side)

I think you can the best of both worlds with the Grandstand area. It has a great quiet pool, kids sprayer area and pool side bar; is the first bus stop on pick up; has a walkway to the West Side; and is a short walk on a nice path to the main building which is where you find the main pool, food, gift shop, and boat dock to DTD.

Also, you can take any bus from the Grandstand area and just hop off at the Congress Park bus stop to walk over to the Marketplace in DTD.

I swear the path to DTD West Side is such a hidden treasure ! It doesn't really only go to Cirque ! We happen to love that side of DTD - HOB, DQ, Virgin Megastore.... We just walk the path to West Side and trek over through to Marketplace. If we're tired we take the boat back "home!"

I am 100% all about The Grandstand! It's the first stop for bus pick up and first drop off, so you get a seat (except it's last for DTD bus.) It's less than 15 minute walk on a great path to DTD WS, and it's a 5 minute walk to AP and Lobby area and the HRS Pool! We didn't have to cross the street at any point in our walking travels except when we decided to venture through the resort to the walking bridge!

I would either want to be in Grandstand of Congress Park (would be my second choice!) We walked over to DTD every night, but we're huge HOB fans (I can hardly wait to get The Elwood again) so we would order to go and sit outside at the tables, drink a beer, eat and listen to the live music!
