Ssr Live And Not Happy.....

We stayed @ SSR this past May in a 1 brdm since we had decided to extend our stay at the last minute this was the only resort available @ that time. We had already spent 5 nights @ our home resort OKW. We checked out of OKW @ 10:30am & went over to SSR just to leave our bags and they said our room was all ready. Everything was perfect & clean. As a matter of fact later that evening we decided to have some pizza & appitizers delivered. The restaurant told us they would call us when they arrived on property & we would have to pick it up @ the front desk. DH had paid with debit card including the tip. Well u would have thought we gave the guy a million $ tip! Within about 20 minutes there was a knock @ our door & the delivery guy brought the food right to our room :cheer2: We will definetly be staying there again.

If you are in your villa and discover a problem, do not call the front desk. You need to call either Engineering (or is it Maintenance) or Housekeeping, whichever is more appropriate. Then if you still have a problem after calling them, GO to the front desk and ask for a manager.

So, FirefighterMickey, what was your problem? How serious was it? Haven't seen anything yet.

When we checked into OKW last month, we played the "total disbelief with housekeeping" game. We found a Q-tip on the bathroom shelf. A Q-tip, can you imagine? Actually, our villa was exceptionally clean and we never had any problems with our stay.

i have stayed in one of those flooded rooms at ssr....a call to engineering sent a young fella over who changed every bulb that was out or flickering, plus the drawers warped and would not open....He got every drawer open. Took him about 20 mins. everything else was fine with the room.

When I need mousekeeping, they always seem to get there very quickly.....

The only issue I have ever had with a room was at HHI where a previous guest kept fresh caught seafood in the fridge and did all the cleaning in of the fish and shrimp in the room and dumped all the waste in the disposal. A call to the houskeeping got it straight.

If members took better care of their homes, including who they share or rent to, then it would not be so hard for housekeeping to clean up after some of these slobs.

Back in Dec. of '06 our family was staying in a 2BR at SSR. We noticed that we
needed more pillows(for the pullout sofa) and called Mousekeeping. About 15
minutes later we received them. Then 15 minutes later another knock on the
door with more pillows. About 15 minutes after THAT another cheerful person
bestowed upon us more pillows. Needless to say, it's either feast or famine.
But we had plenty of pillows! :goodvibes

To recant my previous post..we called maintenance about the AC, not the front desk.....

We had a problem with our studio at SSR, there were several minor things (1) phone was sticky, with what - don't want to know! (2) tub had a ring around it :scared1: and there was a 3rd thing but I don't remember now. Anyway, we called housekeeping and left to pick up some stuff at Walmart. It was taken care of by the time we got back but it was still a gross way to start our first trip home.

What did the front desk or mousekeeping say after you contacted them?

why would anyone come here to rant while in disney....seems a little strange/fishy even.

whilel SSR is not my favorite, our 1 BR was quite clean in October....don't worry if you have an upcoming trip here. Every hotel can have housekeeping issues and can be resolved if addressed correctly.

Our second night there we had a pretty major issue with a tree that was blocking our entire staircase when we came home from DHS. There was a pretty bad storm that forced the tree's branches to cover the staircase. We literally could not get up the stairs.

Ok, since EVERY building at SSR has at least THREE (3) separate staircases (in different locations), how on earth were you prevented from getting to your room for 2 hours??? :sad2: Why not simply walk up one of the other sets of stairs and go to your room??

Also, the person with the dirty bathroom who took time to tell US here that he's taking pictures and will send us a copy of his letter to Disney.....what the heck?? If the bathroom is dirty, call & get it fixed while you're there!

Fortunately I've stayed at SSR several times and have never had a problem. However, if my bathroom was dirty I'd have housekeeping come over to clean it properly. If tree branches were blocking a staircase I'd use a different set of stairs and then call to let them know about the problem from the comfort of my room. I just don't understand these issues...

She was talking about OKW, not SSR.

I just had one of the worst stays in a vacation resort. Upon arrival I found the vertical blinds were broken, the sofa was raggedy and needed replacement (I had to come up from my day at the beach just so management could replace the nasty old thing). And to top it off the bathroom light was left on and the toilet hadn't been flushed!!! Talk about revolting.

Of course it was my family's beach condo and we only rented to friends and family. All the updates and furniture replacement came out of our wallets and/or sweat equity. My dad and I sepnt a whole 6 hours just cleaning up the place and getting it ready for the next guests on the weekend. And I had to still drive back to work.

Disney is so much easier. But it is therapeutic to rant on the DIS. See I feel much better now. All I need to do is never let anyone else but me and my dad stay in that condo.

:rotfl2: :lmao:

Loved it!

I know I shouldn't have laughted but it was just funny (and sad) You only rent to people you know and look what they do to you? Can you imagine what strangers do!???!! YIKES!

Maybe you should go on back and re-read my post. I was talking about OKW, NOT SSR!:confused3  :sad2:

We are big fans of SSR and are looking forward to our stay in December!!

At SSR our problem was when we opened the front door, the bedroom to the right had the closet door hanging off the tracks blocking the entrance to the room. I can't believe it just fell after Mousekeeping left and the short few hours until we arrived. Later we found dust very thick on the stacked washer and dryer. Now my son and I are taller then most and were able to see it but I still can't believe someone from Mousekeeping let it get that thick. We cleaned this and called service on the door. The lady from service fixed the door and complained about Mousekeeping the whole time she was repairing the door...smjj

SSR is a horrible resort everyone should sell all their points resale and never stay there again.:rolleyes1

BTW it would be such a shame for me to pick more SSR pts that everyone is selling resale for a song :teacher:

It would also be just horrible to have an empty resort for my family to play :woohoo:

I know you're only kidding, but just to be clear..

When I commented earlier in this thread, I was expressing my views on all of DVC, not just SSR.
In addition, when I read the OP's opener, I read it in the spirit of DVC in general, not specifically SSR. :smokin:

This is exactly why Dad and I don't get bent out of shape when we encounter issues at our timeshares. Disney and Marriott do an exemplary job at keeping the places up to date. While it would be nice to spring clean each and every unit (getting that dust off the top layer of an appliance no one ever reaches) upon every checkout, it just isn't feasible. With two people working it still took us 6 hours to get our little ol' two bedroom beach condo in semi-pristine condition. Mousekeeping is given what... an hour at most? And then they have to do multiple units and not forget which unit needed what.

If guests would only clean up after themselves, all the units would be in much better shape. Heck I had enough trouble keeping my nieces and nephews from destroying the brand new sofa with all their jumping, climbing, sandy wet bodies. I had to lock them out of the apartment just to be sure they obeyed the rules of cleanliness.
