Ssr Live And Not Happy.....

I know you're only kidding, but just to be clear..

When I commented earlier in this thread, I was expressing my views on all of DVC, not just SSR.
In addition, when I read the OP's opener, I read it in the spirit of DVC in general, not specifically SSR. :smokin:

MG

I have read many posts about how bad DVC housekeeping is and how bad the rooms are with upkeep. A few things to keep in mind and what I have noticed:

1. Orlando is so over populated with hotels and resorts the demand for lower paying jobs has got to out weigh the supply. Expand the discussion to your home town and think of the service you get at the malls, walmart, grocery store compared to the service 10-15 years ago.
2. Think of all the kids at DVC and I'm surprised the whole darn place doesn't get destroyed daily.
3. Most (not all) complaints I see on the boards don't bring it up to mngt so their issues can be addressed. Think of your job if you don't know there is an issue how can you address it - then to have people complain about it without you getting a chance to address it??? Hey mistakes happen, how they respond to the mistake is a better reflection of commitment to service. No place is 100% so if you take the amount of complaints on the boards compared to the number of stays in DVC I think the problems are a small percent. I see many posters state they had an issue brought it up to mngt and it was addressed.
4. Some peoples expectations are way out of line with reality.
5. Yes DVC MF and buy in is expensive compared to other TS but they are the only game in town if you want to stay onsite. We didn't compare our purchase to other TS but to costs of staying onsite at WDW. If you bought DVC to trade, well.............long discusion but you made a mistake.
6. Yes I do admit overall I found service at WDW as a whole is not what it was 10 years ago. However, I say the dip in service is country and industry wide issues.

Ok go ahead and slam me......but I had to get it off my chest:dance3:

I am sorry for the unclean room. We have stayed SSR several times and our rooms have always been spotless. Hopefully they will get it straightened out for you.:goodvibes

We're at SSR right now - Congress Park with DTD Westside view. Everything is great! The room (studio) was very clean (upon arrival - now it looks like a tornado went through it :-) ), and the CMs have been great. We needed more plasticware, and it was delivered within 5 minutes.

Brief summary:
- Grocery delivery by Garden Grocer. Only one mix-up, which was switched out the next day.
- Parks don't seem crowded. Walked through Fantasyland yesterday at 11:30am with tons of open space.
- Walked to DTD last night for dinner (great perk for being at SSR), and it didn't seem crowded either. Got takeout from Wolfgang Puck Express. Very good!
- Love, love, love the large exercise room! Tons of cardio and Hammer Strength equipment. I wish the other DVC resorts had gyms half this size.

This is our 1st stay at SSR, and it won't be our last!

Certainly no slamming from me, but I will give my counter opinion.. :)

I stay in some sort of hotel around 175 nights a year. In addition, I've stayed on site at Disney 60+ times, including VWL, AKV, VB, HH, WL, AK, Poly, GF, YC, and the GC in California.
So, IMO I have a pretty good base line on cleanliness...

1) The non DVC Disney hotels seem to be more consistently clean than the DVC rooms.

Also, I would rather pay a little more in my annual fees and have the job done correctly. Sometime I cringe when Members gripe about a little increase in the housekeeping budget.

2) I agree. That said, I assume Disney is smart enough to factor that into the budget.

3) Most issues are indeed addressed, however DVC is one of the premier timeshares in the area, and one of the top in the world. Housekeeping should notice doors falling off the rails and report it. The room should be taken out of service until the repair is complete.
In other words, many problems should not be there to begin with.

4) Perhaps, but we pay top notch dollars, and I want top notch cleanliness and maintenance. If they can't do it on the fees I already pay, than raise them. I didn't buy DVC to have mediocre cleanliness.

5) We never trade DVC, except occassionally within the Disney Collection.
DVC is suppose to be the leader, not mediocre just because "they're the only game in town".

6) Totally agree on this one.

We just returned last night from SSR for a weekend trip and our studio was spotless. We did, however, not get any stryo/plastic cups, but a quick call to housekeeping had someone at our door in 5 minutes. On Saturday, my husband went to turn on the floor lamp and promptly blew the circuit and all the power to the bedroom side of the studio got tripped. No TV, no clock radio, lights, etc. A quick call to maintenance had it fixed in about 30 minutes. Our apologies to our next door neighbors in the one bedroom when the electrician came knocking on your door that morning to reset our circuit.

The week of the 4th of July, we were at the BCVs in a 2 bedroom with my brother's family. Again, everything was perfect and we had no issues.

We just got home from SSR and our room was very clean and nice. The hair dryer over heated and I called maintenance - they were there in minutes with a new one. We had a great experience at SSR.

While I can't really disagree with your points I do have to say I read about disappointments at almost every hotel or resort/TS. You have me on the nightly stays (which my family is happy about!!!) but I do travel for work and leisure and for the size DVC is not bad - no great but not bad. While NOT TOP of the line but at least for me it is acceptable. I also would prefer to pay a little more in annual fees for better service.

For the most part I think we are on the same page.......good discussion popcorn::

Our room at SSR in May was perfect. Perfect view, Perfect comfort. You must have had bad luck.

We were in a dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR in May also. Room was ready upon arrival. :thumbsup2 Everything was immaculate. The view of Downtown Disney was good. We were in the last building in Congress Park and were literally a 5 minute walk to DTD. If I would criticize anything, the couch/pull-out bed in the living room area needs to be replaced...soon! I think too many young ones have been jumping on the furniture. Even the bus service was outstanding, with only one exception, during our visit.:)
