I have tried all week to post. I wanted to voice my displeasure about the clenliness of the room..We stayed in a one bedroom and the bathroom area is just plain nasty. I will post a copy of the letter I write to DVC AND DISNEY.

If you are there now, get a manager and complain in person.

1. Take pictures of it, for documentation in case it isn't resolved to your satifacation.

2. Get a manager now. IMHO, managers can get the room cleaned a.s.a.p.

Best, GOldi

Sorry you are having a not so pleasant stay.

We love SSR. Our one bedroom was immaculate in September when we were there.

We did have quite a few issues with our Studio at OKW last month and we went right down to the front desk and asked to switch to another Studio. They moved us no problem. The second Studio was better.
Our second night at OKW, we had a pretty major issue with a tree that was blocking our entire staircase when we came home from DHS. There was a pretty bad storm that forced the tree's branches to cover the staircase. We literally could not get up the stairs. Long story short, after many calls from our cell phone to the front desk we walked down there and nicely demanded to see a Manager. When she told us there was nothing she could do until the am, after we repeatedly told everyone the staircase was blocked, we asked for her to come back to our room with us. She was in total shock. She was then able to dig someone up to come and at least cut the branches away from the staircase and the light they were blocking. After 2+ hours we were finally able to get back to our room. We took pictures of the incident before we went down to the front desk the first time. They have since been forwarded with all of this info, to everyone. Our DVC rep (Who happened to call the next am to say Hello. He had read that we were there. Boy, did he get an earful. Not in a nasty way of course), Member satisfaction and OKW all got the email.

Wow, I am so sorry to go on that long!:scared: Anyway, call the front desk and ask to see a Manager now. I would not stay in a room that was not clean, nor should anyone else. I hope the rest of your stay is better!

We are staying there in January and I am a little scared!:scared1:

Don't be scared. As you can see from my post above, many people have stayed at SSR with no problems at all. Issues can happen at any resort. If something is not to your liking, asked to have it fixed or switch to a new room.

We have stayed onsite every year since 1996. In Values, Mods and DVC resorts. We have only had one other problem with a resort. There was a strong smell of smoke in our room and since 3 of us are asthmatic we asked for a new room. We were moved with no problems at all. The other occasion was last month that I posted about above. Not bad at all if you ask me.;)

SSR is a gorgeous resort. I hope you have a wonderful stay!

Yes, please get a manager! We stay @ SSR often and it's always been BEAUTIFUL:goodvibes , heading back in 12 weeks and we cannot wait!!!
Usually they do a greta job, so just get a manager and it will be taken care of!

I don't get this... If you are AT the resort and not happy.... why post here? Go to the front desk and get it dealt with? Why write a letter?

(Heck if you are at SSR and not happy you can always go to the sales center and LOUDLY start talking about your issue in the waiting area with the staff, LOL!)

Now I have stayed there a LOT and never had a problem or a dirty room so... YMMV!

Don't be. I've had 15+ trips (including SSR) and have never had a room that wasn't immaculate.

Mousekeepers are human, so there are some that are very good at their jobs, and some that aren't so good. If the room isn't cleaned to your satisfaction when you arrive, simply contact housekeeping, or the front desk, or a manager if necessary, and ask them to correct the problem.

we were just there in june and the patio door was busted. I called all day to get it fixed people in and out of our room sort of made me mad... well in the long run to make a story short. They were unable to fix it so there locked the door and we couldnt get out of the room to sit on the patio. Fire hazard if you ask me but anyways... They gave us $100 and I didnt even ask for it. It was sort of nice.. and my guide called us and was soooo sorry that it happened to us.

My advice is to goto the front desk and ask to speak to a manager.

I've got upper respitory problems, and part of our request is that no air freshners, etc are to be used in the room, cause headaches etc.

Well, we goto teh room, they sprayed air freshner, my dh called the front desk, and said, we'll have a manager call you back.

Then I remembered what people said here, when you call its a not the actual front desk, but a call center, i wasn't going to wait in a room making me sick,

Headed to the front desk, spoke to a manager, did have to wait to get a new room, but no offending odors in the new room.

We were just there last week for the latest of quite a few stays at SSR. No problems with cleanliness, but our air conditioning did stop working. Called the front desk, they had someone there within 30 minutes.

I am not sure why people do not voice their opinion while they are at the resort. Disney will do what they can to fix the situation. On our recent trip Disney said our room was ready and when we checked in it was not even cleaned so we called a manager. They fixed it right away and offered us compensation.

Absolutely. Ranting here is therapeutic, but complaining to someone while they can actually do something to help you is much better.

And...did you know there is a Firehouse View at SSR?

Another vote for discussing your issues with management while you are still there. We have stayed at SSR many times and only once had a cleanliness issue. I think the room was missed in the cleaning schedule totally and the previous occupants really did a number on it ! A phone call set everything to rights very quickly.

Mistakes happen. The difficulty is if the administration shows no willingness to correct the mistake. I have never experienced them unwilling to help !

Where exactly is that line of paying a lot of money and expecting it to be exceptional and that line where human error can intersect. I know it's a lot of money that has been paid, but still things will happen like they do in real life. I know my house isn't perfect, eventhough I paid a lot of money.
