SSR is S'Wonderful...1st DVC Trip!

I was fortunate enough to take a quick, solo trip to check out "our new digs"!! lol

No ME bus this time, a Mears yellow bus...didnt mind as I have done ME before, but felt badly for first timers as the ME bus really gets you excited and adds that magical touch to the excitement of arriving at WDW....did get one on the way back.

At check in I am told my room is ready to go...at 12:30 p.m. this is wonderful! But wait....systems crash! So now I have to wait 1-2 hrs/or until they are up again! I am just happy to be there, so no biggie, things happen! After chatting with a "Welcome Home" CM..(thats what I called her) she comes back to me with a one time use key card for my room!!! Love her! She tells me I have an hour to use it and its only good for one use!
Just goes to show you....you may receive "magic" if you dont complain like many others were!

So off to my room....never wrote down the room #....so after my celebratory cocktail at the Grandstand pool bar....I forget my room # and have to call back which just confused everyone!! lol

:goodvibes Received my room request!!! Grandstand, top floor....awesome view of the pool!! :yay: I am happy...nice studio at the end of the floor!
#8432, room in great shape except for some stains on the night table ...looked like huge water marks of some kind.

**Linens Change** I was fortunate enough to be here when they did the change....1st night old stuff...wow...not impressed...next night...can totally tell the differance!!! Especially the towels!!**

**Housekeeping** One minor issue....first morning I wake up, notice one of the pillowcases ha blood on it from a previous guest. A mousekeeper should have thrown it away after it slipped through the wash, but I guess thought it could be used again:confused3

I kindly called Housekeeping..was pleasant...just wanted to let them know the situation....how can they improve if we dont bring these type of incidents to their attention????? Supervisor apologized etc....

When I returned later in the day....a gift basket a wonderful note apologizing!!! Two glass DVC Member coffee mugs, assorted snacks and coffee!!! Impressed!

The Cm's at registration were all great...were very welcoming every time I had a question or needed something...called me by name...was extremely happy we purchased here!!!

**Transportation** Never had any issues....I really think its a luck thing here...although I only used the bus service a few times. Did the walk to DTD from Grandstand! Not on the way back though, bought to much stuff!! lol

OH.......one more thing!!!!

I encountered MANY lost guests at SSR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One morning at AP.... I saw guests with refillable mugs for: CBR, BC, POR, GF!!!:rolleyes1
Love SSR....now I know why so many love it!!!!

WOW--way to go SSR staff! Sounds like they really made everything right for you! We love our home, too!

This is my favorite part about SSR. The CM's are great!! And they do take the time to know you by name. My family was so impressed that all the CM's knew us!:rotfl: They are always so helpful, stopping to say hello or offer help or rides, etc.

It sounds like they really went out of their way to apologize for the incident:thumbsup2

I was just able to switch our last 2 nights next week from BCV to SSR so we will check in on Dec 28!:banana:

I'm so glad you had a magical trip to SSR. I love to hear new comers have a great time at this resort. Its our home resort and we absolutely love it.

It was a great first trip home and couldnt wait to share! I really want to go back, but since our stays are before/after our cruise, we want to try other DVC resorts...and almost changed our mind about our June trip, but really want to have the space in a 2 bdr at OKW.
As DH said....how many years will we be going back???lol
As far as the bedding....my linens were changed....however, the pillowcase with the blood stain had been washed....while it should have been discarded, it ended up on my bed.
Oh......every DVC resort was getting an upgrade in linens!!!! lol

So the first night I had the "old" ones meaning not so hot quality, and the next night, the new Wamsutta towels/etc!!!
I guess I shouldnt have assumed everyone read abt the linens change/upgrade! Sorry abt that!!!

I'm a little confused... do you mean they introduced a new linen and towel product, or do you feel you had old well-used items and got brand new (or near new) ones?

That was our studio room the very first time we stayed at SSR (last summer right after GrandStand opened)!!! :yay: I LOVED the location!!! :love: It was a great view of the pool, for sure! We watched the movie @ the pool from our balcony!

We didn't put the stains on the night table, I promise! ;)
 
DisDayDreamer...yes, they introduced new product! I read about it here months ago that every DVC Resort ( I think..or all) were receiving new linen products. They actually left a message stating that housekeeping would be entering every room to update and complete the change! Sorry for the confusion in my explanation!

tom and robin...yes...poor lost souls with their mugs...at one point I think a sarcastic "wow" slipped out when I saw a couple with 2 differant mugs sat next to me! lol Different strokes......

RachelTori.....I LOVED this room, what a view of the pool, huh??? And when you walked out of your room...nice as well!! Not too shabby for first time stay at SSR!! I loved having the balcony door open...and listening to the water fountains from the pool, the resort was so quiet....it sounded like it was in my room!! So peaceful!!
We stay at AKV for one night after our cruise in FEB! Looks like I am following you around! lol We did a 1 bdr though for a bit more space, and DS14, DD10 and DD 1 1/2!
Anyway, I really liked the Grandstand area!! Great bus stop location, great private pool area, quick walk to AP!
But I hear Carousel is awesome so folks should request that first!!!!
