Hello all,
Can't wait to use our DVC points for the first time.
We will be taking our children but also both sets of parents. My mother in law has ailments and gets tired quickly, my father is battling cancer and frail so not sure how much he can hang.

My question is, what advice would you give me in requesting and area to stay? I would guess near buses but there are other things to get into consideration.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays to all.

My suggestion is ask to get a room near the buses. Try getting them a scooter. My mom is 81 and we just came back from AKV. We rented from apple. She was able to our do me by then end of the day and you are first on and first off the bus. It made for an easy day.my mom hated the idea but at the end of the day really liked it.

Based on the thread title it appears your staying at Saratoga Springs. If you can try to get in at the grandstands. And go for first floor, although they do have elevators in all the buildings. Plus one of the buildings is right up against the bus stop. It's the first stop in so you shouldn't have an issues with full buses and your the first drop off after a day at the parks which is nice.

We just got back from SSR and stayed at The Grandstand because it is the first bus stop going to the parks and the first stop on the way back. By the 5th stop (The Springs) in the morning, there are no seats left on the bus.

Good advice. I will call tomorrow and see if they can try to get us there!

I would suggest you call MS in advance to ask about your requests. If you request at check in you may limit your chances.

I use online check-in which works for me, but if I had real needs I would rather speak to a person.

I would always personally request Congress Hall area. The bus stop is right outside this group of 4 buildings--and no single building is really closer to it. Aside from the bus proximity, this area is also a very short walk to downtown disney. 10 minutes to the Marketplace. Instead of going towards the main resort area, you come out of your building and head to the walkway on the right. DTD is right around the corner. Nothing more convenient. If it is warm enough to swim, the a quiet pool and lovely view of DTD is also right outside almost every balcony.

This was the first built area of SSR and my personal favorite.

In January you are not going to have big crowds on the buses. I would pick either Congress Park or Springs, so you get a newly rehabbed room.

Springs is the closest group of buildings to the Carriage House which houses, check in, restaurants and shops.

i've stayed at SSR with my little ones and i'd suggest Grandstand. it has the first bus for pick up and drop off and the walk to the springs is a nice and easy one for breakfast and coffee.

i haven't stayed at the other areas though other than the treehouses so really can't say much on those. i don't think you can go wrong wherever you are at SSR. it's a lovely resort! have fun!
