SSR- Grandstand or Congress Park?

I'm heading home to SSR in 3 1/2 weeks with 2 girlfriends and my cousin. We will be in a 1bdr. We decided that we would like to see if we can get a view of DTD. I've heard great things about Grandstand and I've stayed in the Congress Park section. I was leaning towards Congress Park as it is closest to the marketplace. However, I know these rooms are older. Is it that noticeable? We're really hoping for a room with a nice view, relatively close to a pool, and one that isn't very, very loud in case we want to rest in the afternoon. One of my friends is getting married 2 weeks after our trip and my other friend and cousin have had a difficult few months (as have I). We wont be in the room all that much, but I'd like to pick a nice location/room so everyone feels relaxed and happy. Any suggestions for which section and/or room number?

If you're looking for a view of DTD then Congress Park is where you'll want to be. Grandstand is nice, close to the Carriage House & you could have a view of the pool or the golf course, but the pool may be a bit louder than the Congress Park area due to the bar & fountain spray area? We've stayed in both sections & I didn't notice any difference in the wear & tear of the rooms.

I agree I don't think you will notice much difference, you would be amazed at how quickly they get wear and tear.

The views at the Grandstand are fabulous and the nicest quiet pool there. I would never advise requesting a particular room number, you are really limited yourself then, I would stick to location, such as Grandstand.

We just came back from staying 7 nights in the grandstand area and it was wonderful. we loved it. 1st pick up and drop off for buses and close to everything. We wouldn't hestitate to stay there again. The rooms do have a little age on them. The toliet in master bathroom had lost its seal to the floor and wobbled plus some other small things, but nothing to keep us from staying there again. In fact I just booked a studio for October and requested the Grandstand area.

Stayed in a two bedroom in Congress Park with a DTD view in May. The room was immaculate no room related issues whatsoever.

We prefer Congress Park over Grandstand. We thought it was more relaxing being further away from the main area of SSR. We spend a lot of time on our balcony and it was definitely quieter.

We love the Grandstand, but it sounds like you may like Congress Park more. Instead of requesting a certain room, make a request like close to the bus stop at Grandstand and having a DTD view at CP. You'll have a better chance of getting it.

We had a studio in April 2009 in Congress Park. I think we seen a total of 10 people walking around our building. It was quiet, close to DTD and we had a decent view. We never bumped into anybody going up/down the stairs or walking on the paths.
I think the place is so huge, it's rare to see anyone but yourselves...
If you want quiet, Congress Park is your choice. If you don't mind the walk/ride to the lobby/food court.

If I were to stay there again, I'd want to be as close to the lobby area as possible. But that's just my opinion.

BTW - the only issue we had with our room was the dresser handle was half off. Not a big deal. We let it go, it didn't bother us. But the room was nice. We had a room right next to the stairway. It was nice, we didn't have to walk to the elevators to get out of our building. And we never heard anyone going up or down those stairs. So noise was not a factor.

I'm a Congress Park lover. I always request a DTD View and Building 16. The last two trips I was fortunatel enough to get the same room location. 1645 one trip & 1745 the next. What we love about this room is the view. See for yourself:

I don't know if I'll be lucky enough to get this room again, but it's worth a shot!!

we've stayed in both areas and each has it's unique qualities. If you strictly want quiet, then CP is my recommendation.

For DTD view Congress Park. Able to relax and enjoy just about anywhere at SSR. Grandstand was first stop on our last trip, not sure now with the tree houses. The rooms are great. If there is a problem we all need to report them so they get fixed.

DW and I have always been partial to Congress Park, mostly because we enjoy walking over to DTD of an evening. Haven't had any room problems there to date.

We've requested The Grandstand since I think our kids would enjoy the quiet pool. How long would you say is the walk to DTD from there?
