Hi Everyone,

This is my first time posting on this board, as we are staying at SSR for the very first time next month! :woohoo:

I've got a question, we plan on eating in the room alot, and I know the kitchen units have pots and pans....but are the pots big enough to boil pasta, are there baking pans? Do they have cooking utensils???? Am I going to have to purchase dishwashing detergent???? :confused3

Thanks for any information you have, we're trying to plan our shopping list for garden grocer.

We are headed HOME in about 3 months :yay: We can't wait either!!!

Pots and pans- at the OKW 1 bedroom where we stayed at last year, we found a few pots and pans including baking pans. I'm sure others will post more detailed answers to this question.

They do have basic cooking utensils, not sure if they have any specific for boiling pasta. You should not need any dishwashing detergent unless you are staying for an extended time, and plan on cooking for every meal as they supply some dishwashing detergent.

Hope you have a great time!!!

I wasn't sure about the pot but DW informas me that they indeed did have a pot large enough for pasta. I believe that the supplied detergent was easily enough for our 5 day stay. They also furnish laundry detergent but it's just a one use box. They have a small grocery section at Artists Palette which probably sells detergent. We found the prices for the groceries were suprisingly reasonable.

We were there 2 weeks ago but didn't do any cooking in the rooms. I do remember a large pot and maybe even a collander. There was a large spoon, spatula and other large utensils also. I've seen the full list of items on these boards before but couldn't find them in a search.

There was a small box of Cascade, probably enough for 5-7 loads. I believe they will give you more if you need it.

As mentioned, you can get just about everything you need at Artist's Palette. The prices are reasonable for the convenience they offer. For example, a large bag of Dorritos was $3.79, a box of Pop Tarts was $5.00 (a little high), a large box of Entemann's small chocolate chip cookies was $2.79. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of a huge markups on these things, about the most expensive thing we got was a half-gallon of milk for $3.89. I can get a gallon for that price at home.

We just came back from SSR about 2 weeks ago. There were pots and pans... definitely enough to cook pasta... we did have a colander. There were utensils... dd thoroughly enjoyed playing with the large plastic serving spoon! But we were missing some random stuff that should have been there. For example, pot holders. We made a call as we discovered missing items and they were replaced.

We stayed four days...ate at least two meals in the room every day. It was four adults and a 6 month old baby. So not only were we washing our plates, cups and pots but baby bottles and nipples several times a day. There was ample Cascade for the dishwasher and ample Palmolive for the hand washing. We brought a small thing of laundry detergent with us.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

This is great! I was starting to get nervous wondering what I'd be able to cook there!

This is our first time staying at a DVC, so we're all really excited! :yay:

What section did you stay in???

;)
There are pots large enough for pasta!
As I recall, my DW made a Spaghetti dinner for 4
back in 4/05 during our first home visit @ SSR and
she utilized a large pot.
If I'm correct, and someone stop me if I'm wrong, there's
a posting out there with a complete listing
of all the pots/pans/utensels that come
with a 1/2/GV DVC.
To the pros out there...does this sound right?:confused3

Someone else mentioned that listing too...but they couldn't find it either!

If someone has that, I'd love to see it! :thumbsup2

The list of items provided with DVC units is available on the dvcmember.com webpage. To find it, click the View Resorts link. Then, select the resort at which you will be staying. Then, select the Accomodations link and scroll down the page. You will first see descriptions of each type of unit and then you will see a list of all of the amenities (including a list of items provided in each room/area of the villa).

I knew it was out there!
Alas, it wasn't on these boards...anyhow,
for those who don't have access to
dvcmember.com, here it is:

http://allears.net/acc/bwv_kit.htm

I can't guarantee that the list hasn't changed...
Hope this helped all of you out!:)
