I know SSR has fireworks on new years eve. I just read on another thread that there may be fireworks on July 4th as well.

I asked MS when I booked, but they didn't know. Does anyone know for sure? BroganMc, can you confirm?

Thanks!
Shan :)

Yes and Yes.

Actually the fireworks are for DTD, but SSR gets front row seating!!!

OK fun! We're going down both the 4th and NYE this year, and we're staying at SSR for NYE. How do the fireworks there compare to the ones at the parks during the same times?

SSR had fireworks on NYE?:confused3

I thought DtD doesn't do fireworks anymore?:confused3

:woohoo: That would be awesome! We're going to be at SSR then and were trying to decide where to see fireworks!

I know that the fireworks barge is still there. We also saw DTD fireworks last September after a water ski competition.

I've never been there for July 4th (you couldn't pay me to go down then), but others have and described similar fireworks and Congress Party pool party as done on NYE.

Now as for NYE, I saw fireworks at Magic Kingdom (the test run on the 30th) and EPCOT (7:30pm early bird fireworks) and at SSR/DTD. JMHO, but of all three SSR's was the best. They go off right over your head. You can sit out on the lawn or walkway with absolutely nothing in front of you. And you can see the fireworks of MK, EPCOT and MGM/DHS on the horizon. And it's completely free.

I'm still trying to figure out where the PI people watched. FYI, it is PI admission that pays for the fireworks. They have special event nights that fund it. I believe when PI dropped to mandatory admission charge so went the regular midnight fireworks. That was several years ago. So now it's just the special parties.

FWIW, MK was the runner up for coolest NYE fireworks. But I wouldn't touch that place on a holiday. Wall-to-wall people is not my idea of fun. If you can, see the dry run the night before.

Thanks so much for the info!

We WILL be at the MK on the 4th (Yes...we know it will be insanely crowded!) We have an early dinner reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern, and will head back to SSR. I think we will just suit up for a swim in the Congress Park pool until time for fireworks. Sounds MUCH better than fighting to get out of the Magic Kingdom!

Does anyone remember about what time the fireworks were on the 4th? Do they wait for midnight like on newyear's eve?

Thanks again! :goodvibes

We were at SSR last 4Th of July and the fireworks are excellent!!

Community Hall also does a pool party at Congress Park to celebrate and they pipe in the music for the fireworks.

I specifically recall that they did not wait until midnight for the fireworks, I believe it was closer to 10 pm.

DTD still has fireworks, like Brogan said. They are just for special events now, but when they have them, they are excellent and waaaaayy better than the nightly spurt they did each night at midnight.

SSR was great on the 4th, we hit TL and when we got back to the resort, they were having a pool party at HRS pool and making ice cream. They also had a full house for ceramics that day. Then a 2nd party at Congress Park that night

That's our plan, TL first thing in the AM, then a relaxing evening, fireworks and bed.
