SSR expected sell out...

I talked to my guide yesterday about current incentives, and he said they expect SSR to sell out in the next 5 weeks.

I was also told by my guide this morning that SSR was nearing Sell-Out and would be dropping the incentives soon. Not that it mattered to me, I had already made up my mind to purchase my add-on. I called him.

Oh I hope they sell out fast. I think the faster SSR is out of the mix, the quicker DVC will roll out the Contemporary. Was just there last week and the structure is up and moving along pretty good. Hope we hear something by the end of the year.

How do oyu find out which resorts are sold out?

all resorts are technically "sold out" except for SSR and AKV.

however, DVC is constantly re-acquiring points by ROFRing cheap contracts or foreclosing on deadbeats...so if you prefer to stay at BCV, for example, you can still ask a DVC guide to buy in there...whether it is technically "sold out" or not. (most of their focus is selling the current resorts, though, so you may have to be clear that you're not willing to buy elsewhere.)

Good point. I was thinking the same thing. I bought VWL points along with my SSR points even though it is "sold out". DVC always acquires points.

We did a 100 Point SSR Add On 2 Weeks ago on the Magic. Some, but I can't remember which, Use Years were already gone.
We were happy. We got $10 / Point Discount so $94 / Point. $500 Shipboard Credit. Developer Points and a model of the Ship !

I was at SSR yesterday by the pool, and saw my DVC guide on a tour. Oddly enough, I thought to myself "I wonder how close they are to selling out here." So assuming that a sellout is going to happen in the near future, regardless of which date, will the DVC operations be moving to AKV, or will they stay at SSR? They have a huge set up there, so I cant see it being easy to relocate, but then again I would think it easier to sell AKV if you are actually on property. Any thoughts?

The sales office will stay at SSR into the foreseeable future.

The last office was at the BoardWalk and remained there for many years after that resort sold-out. They constructed model rooms for VWL, BCV and even SSR at the BoardWalk before actually relocating to SSR in 2004.

A big part of the motivation to relocate to SSR was the fact that they could re-use the BWV space. The model rooms were constructed in bays that followed the same layout as the rest of the Villa wing. Once they decided to move, all of the models there were stripped down and converted into normal BWV units. That gave DVC a few thousand new points to sell at that resort back in 2003.

The same cannot be said for the SSR sales office which was designed entirely for that purpose. Even the new models are being placed in a building which used to house a theater, so there's not much chance of it being retrofitted for use as guest rooms afterward.

It may well move some day, but I can't see there being any plans to relocate to either AKV or the Contemporary. Perhaps some other resort much further down the road.

That makes sense, you answered multiple questions, as I was mainly curious if they moved the sales office with each new property, or if SSR would serve as a "central" office of sorts. While I'm sure they could come up with a use for the areas, its probably better served in its present fashion....

I believe that the OP is referring to when DVC will complete selling all of the SSR memberships for the first time. Currently, you can buy SSR either via resale as you did or directly from Disney. At some point, DVC will have sold all of the available points for SSR. At this point the resort will be "sold out". However, the resort will still be available via resale and also, if DVC has points due to exercising ROFR, through DVC directly. Currently, VWL, BCV, BWV, OKW, HHI, and VB are all sold out. However you can buy points via resale or through DVC for all of these resorts.

Our guide said on Sat. that they expect SSR to sell out in the next 8 weeks. I thought that was interesting since July 1 is just over 8 weeks away and that's the rumored start date for selling at the Contemporary. I asked her about the Contemporary just to see what she'd say, and she thinks points will probably go up in price, and the amount of points required to stay there will probably be sticker shock (IF it's really going to be sold as DVC )but they don't have any concrete info yet.
