Hi we are booked to stay at ssr in August with the 40% discount :) whilst we were staying in pofq last year we had a look around a few resorts but as we had no plans to stay there ssr wasnt one of them :guilty: we did look round beach & yc though and really liked the general feel . I presume ssr isnt likley to be as nice but on photos I have seen of the lobby & stuff they do look quite silmilar ? just wondering if I am way off the mark & hoping for a few comparisons between the two.

SSr is a DVC resort with very nice Condo style accomodations in the 1bdr aand up villas, themed on resorts in the Catskills. Beach club is a resort with standard resort rooms and some suites themed on the seashore. Yacht Club is BC sister resort but has a nautical/ship theme.

We hated SSR - felt like we were in a condo anywhere but Florida. Boring, spread out and terrible gift shop and food area. Just not our cup of tea when we visit WDW. Others love it there. ::yes::

I stayed at a 2 bedroom at SSR a couple of years ago and loved it. It is definitely different from the regular resorts. I think much more laid back. It was nice to come back from the parks and really relax there. And as much as I hate to admit it....since I am an avid Disney foodie. It was also nice to just wake up and eat something in the room since it had a full kitchen. Less rushing to get to restaurants. I would still pick Poly or Akl if had a chance.....but if you have kids it's nice to have the extra room also. We are renting points this year and staying in a studio for about 1/3 of the price of the Poly. My Dbf is also not a huge Disney fan so I think he will enjoy the less in your face Disney ambience. To be honest...you could put me anywhere at Disney and I'd be thrilled.

Eek, I personally don't think that SSR is as good as BC/YC. The atmosphere, location, lobby, pool, and basically everything else at BC/YC is so much better that SSR doesn't even compare. SSR does feel like a condo/apartment complex as it is very spread out and is extremely huge (in a bad way). You can easily see parking lots as well. The theming at BC/YC is much better and more romantic. You truly feel like you are at a seaside resort decked with nautical accents at YC and shells, pastels, and beach areas at BC as opposed to SSR's somewhat lost "horse-racing" Saratoga theming. You also have a beautiful centralized lobby as opposed to the spread out building complexes at SSR. This centralized lobby also makes getting food on the go easier as well as the ability to make reservations at some of their restaurants without having to walk huge distances. You have the Boardwalk right across the water which provides some amazing views especially at night as well as entertainment, food, and shopping. The main pool at BC/YC are also much better - they have a sand-bottom pool with an excellent slide, quite possibly one of the best resort pools at WDW. Lastly you are able to walk to Epcot, catch a boat to Hollywood Studios, and walk over to neighboring resorts such as the Boardwalk and Swan & Dolphin - much better in my opinion than catching a boat to Downtown Disney at SSR. If your budget allows out - by all means go for BC/YC!

YC/BC have much better transportation options (walking and boats to both Epcot and DHS) and they also share the largest and most interesting pool on WDW property. If you like to spend your evenings at Epcot enjoying the "world" dining and Illuminations, it's a fantastic location for you. If you're more MK people, then the location isn't as good.

I agree that SSR looks really pretty in the photos (I haven't stayed there myself). We've chosen YC several times because of its location and pool.

SSR is very nice if you have nothing to compare it to. The villas are new, nicely furnished, clean and comfy. The grounds are beautifully manicured and the resort is a boat ride away from Down Town Disney/Disney Market Place. It is a huge DVC resort. Now, that said, the Yacht and Beach Club is absolutely beautiful. You can't beat the location, walking distance to two parks. The Boardwalk is just across Crescent Lake and the Swan and Dolphin just a stroll away. The pool (Storm Along Bay) is incredible and loved by kids and adults. If I had my choice, I would absolutely choose Yacht and Beach Club, or Boardwalk over SSR for the location alone. But...if there is no choice then SSR is lovely and you will still be at a very nice Disney World resort.:thumbsup2

Sorry I can't compare because we've never done SSR ... and living close to the real SS it doesn't hold any attraction for us. That being said .... we found YC to be wonderful in every way possible. First, its a relatively older resort so the rooms, hallways, etc. all feel bigger. The theming feels very genuine and the overall layout makes sense as it relates directly to the water. Location-wise (and we love Epcot) being able to walk to Epcot is a fabulous treat. Strolling home at nite after the fireworks makes you want to hug yourself ... and everyone else!!! Enjoy your trip.

Thanks for your replys ! you have given me lots to think about but as we are staying for 14 nights and got the 40% off I think the price difference might be too much .Would love to stay there but may have to work our way up gradually :) we really enjoyed pofq last year & hoping ssr is as good :goodvibes
