I just got back from SSR - beautiful resort.

this resort has alot of new bus drivers. They hit the curb, they drive very slow or very fast, they get lost.

One night coming back from MK the bus driver passed SSR - I think it was going to DD.

Another night coming back from Epcot - the bus driver really got lost - we went to the MK.

I was really surprise at how few people noticed this.

I guess SSR is attracting alot of new people to DVC and WDW.

I only had around 4 old drivers - the rest were new. Some were nice - but no offense to anyone - WDW needs to start hiring us Disney nuts - we already know where everything is.

Oh - WDW does not require a commerical license - WDW will completely train you and help you get your license.

I have a few more years here....

YIKES!!! We've never had a car at WDW so I don't know how things connect real well, but I'd like to think I'd notice if we actually went to MK instead of SSR! MAybe WDW figured the DVC "experts" could assist the drivers and tell them where to turn? ;)

Thanks for the heads up! Glad you enjoyed SSR!

SSR is a beautiful resort - got a great view of the quiet pool and DD West in the background.

It was lovely!

I am really considering becoming a WDW bus driver....I could definitely do better than some of those poor guys.

I wonder what is the last age WDW will hire you?

Epcot is a 5 minute trip back to SSR. So when the trip was 10 minute I start to look around - he actually went through the MK bus lane before he turned down the route to FW/PO/SSR - if I wasn't so tired it would have been funny. So a trip that should have been 5 to 7 minutes - was 25 to 30 minutes...

Disney reallys need to work on new signs for these guys.

The one lady driver didn't get lost but she was driving so slow - I mean it 25 mph on roads outside the resort - 5 mph inside the resort....

Disney can be confusing for us Disney nuts - so be patient with the new driver - there are a bunch of them.

I was at SSr a week ago. Thank goodness I didn't have any of those issues! We never waited for the bus at all. Each day my wife and I were the only ones taking the bus to the parks. At night the buses were never crowded, and always went straight home, without any problems.

I stayed most nights for the SMH (suprise magic hours evening) - the new drivers were taking people home from these.

I was in 4717 - where were you?

I also got most morning a new driver - they were hitting the curve fairly often.

as I said - the few seasoned drivers - they were so different, to me anyway, it was noticeable.

I was under the assumption that WDW transportation used a centralized dispatch system that could change drivers' routes on the fly. In other words, a bus may collect guests from BW and take them to MK. At MK, the sign changes to WL, and he collects guests for return the Wilderness Lodge. Upon arrival at WL, it becomes an Epcot bus, taking guests to that park.

Maybe I should spend more time on the transportation board. :)

Regardless, it sounds like there are some drivers who still aren't familiar with SSR. Kinda strange given that it's been a year now.

Just when I started to think it was safe to go back on a Disney bus.......

I guess I had better stick to my cabs, or hoofing it from the Boardwalk!

Is it possible that they just hired on new drivers in anticipation of the summer busy season and the 50th celebration?

these are new drivers and I mean new - one guy told me he had only been driving a couple of weeks.

give them time and they will be as wonderful as the old bus drivers.

lots of the bus drivers have been working for 30 to 20 years now - and WDW is retiring them. So they need to hire new bus drivers.

sometimes one forget how big WDW is and for a new bus drivers so much to learn in a very short time frame.

tjkraz - yes that is how the system works - but the bus was full - the dispatcher would only change over an empty bus (or almost empty - when we use to get on OKW for lunch break back at the resort lots of time we had to go to CBR first).

Epcot is 5 to 7 minutes by bus - so it would not make sense to make it go to MK first - (the driver got lost - he didn't pick up anyone at the MK - he just went that way to SSR)

as I say this was an interesting trip! pirate:
