I'm getting exciting about planning our next visit.. first stay at SSR, park focus mainly being on F&WF but also with some intentional non-park time and I'm trying to get a handle on the area.

First;
I'm looking at the overall WDW map posted on here and wondering, are any resorts walkable from SSR? Maps can be so deceiving and I do know the measure Disney goes to separate areas and make them their own. Just wondering if people in good walking shape could walk to areas nearby?

Second;
We've used FLTours towncar service for many trips to BCV and have been very happy. Looking up info regarding this stay, and I'm confused as what area to specify for a quote. There's a 'Downtown Disney' area option, then there's an 'other resorts' option....? What does SSR fall under as far as location on Disney property?

Thanks for any help :love:

From SSR you can walk to OKW. Depending on your pace and from what part of SSR you are leaving from, I would say it is about a 15 - 20 minute walk on the average. You can also easily walk to DTD from SSR. From the Congress Park area to the Marketplace is only about a 10 minute walk, and then from the hospitality area to the West Side is about a 15 minute walk. Just walking around this area and also the Treehouse area is a good enough walk for me! The other resorts are farther away and not easily walked to due to distance, high traffic streets and I am not sure of the availability of paths or sidewalks.

There is a map of the SSR area with walking distances shown, but I am not on my own computer to attach it. Hopefully someone else can post it.

SSR is considered a Downtown Disney area resort. The only resort you can walk to from SSR is Old Key West.

You could also walk over to DTD, catch the boat to Port Orleans and then walk around in those 2 resorts. They are also very nice and have lots of walkways.

Maybe it's even possible to get a direct boat from SSR to PO, but I think they have separate boats.

The walk over to Old Key West is wonderful - you have to cross over the bridge by the golf club at SSR and turn right; it's signposted as a nature trail walk to OKW. If you were to turn left once over that bridge, it brings you to Downtown Disney Westside. Now, the signs going in that direction initially might say golfers only BUT, this doesn't make ANY sense because there are walking signs back from downtown disney westside to SSR which use the golf paths for the last 5 minutes. Like I said, the signs contradict each other so I guess no-one is wrong and no-one is right.

The next walk we do - at sunset only, once all the golfers are gone! - is a golf path that runs between SSR and Treehouse villas. You follow the path North over Disney Vacation Club Way and follow the path to the left. You can see French Quarter across the river. The path skirts the forest for a little while, then takes a sharp right turn. You leave the path here, and you're at Riverside! Voila.
Now let the wrath commence.

Thanks everyone! Got all of my questions answered and then some! Didn't know there was a boat to PO resort so that sounds like a plan. I've been wanting a Disney visit like this for years and I'm really looking forward to it!
