We are going to be headed back to the world June 14-26. SSR is our home resort and I am going to make a reservation there tomorrow. If I am able to I was thinking about switching to AKV or Boardwalk at the 7 month mark. Assuming that there was availability at all of these what would you all recommend. We stayed at SSR in June/July 2008 and loved it, but would also like to try something new. Any opinions recommendations would be appreciated. ;)

BWV is our "Home" and we love it. I don't care for the decor of AKV and it is very isolated because of the animals. There are so many restaurants at Boardwalk (DW doesn't cook on vacation) and lots of entertainment there, too. Close to Epcot and a short walk or boat ride to DHS. Just my opinion.

I would agree with Goofey...even though my opinion may be slightly skued. BWV would be great to try out.......I would assume that the dates you are looking at there should not be trouble getting in. The only thing is that more than likely standard views will be gone and maybe boardwalk views as well. As Goof mention the proximity to both Epcot and DHS was the main reason for us owning there and staying there most every time we travel.

Really depends on the type of trip you want. If you want fairly quiet (like SSR), then AKV might be for you. On the other hand, if you want the excitement and people watching along the Boardwalk in the evening, then BWV is a great choice. We own at BWV and really enjoy those activities. Being close to Jellyrolls (a fantastic dueling piano's club) also is fantastic. And, as said before, walking to Epcot and DHS is a plus.

I say the BWVs. We were at the BCV last June, and loved the ease of walking to Epcot and DS. Plus two of our favorite restaurants are right there, Beaches and Cream and the Flying Fish. Great Pool at BWV also! Good luck!!

We just got back from BWV last Friday  and I would vote to stay there. We love the location and the Boardwalk is great at night. That being said we've already booked next summer's vacation at AKV! We've stayed there once before (did a small add-on) and absolutely love it. We feel very relaxed when we're there. Whatever you decide - you can't go wrong!

Why not choose two and split your vacation between them? Bell services will move your bags for you and it would be a great way to try out a new place, while still getting to visit one you know you love. ;)

This is what we are doing on our next trip. We also own at SSR and love it. I didn't want to miss a year there as I so look forward to going, but we too want to try other resorts. We are staying at SSR for the first part of our trip and moving to BWV halfway through.

Either way, you really can't go wrong. Let us know what you decide. Good Luck!

I agree it depends on what kind of vacation you want.

If you want a vacation that has a lot of resort time - I'd go with VAKL - the animals are very cool, there are plenty of activities out there to keep you busy but at a slower pace - the ranger activities at the lodge for kids are cool.

If you are really enamoured of a trip with lots of Epcot and/or the Studios, plus a busier resort (i.e. more bars and restaurants, Boardwalk entertainment), then BWVs is a great choice.

Krissy beat me to it, do both! I stay at two resorts nearly every visit and plan my park and restaurant visits according to the area I am staying (one area is MK/AK the other area Epcot/Hollywood Studios/downtown Disney). That way you stay at "two different" places during your vacation. You dates suggest you will be there plenty of time to enjoy both. I have stayed at all except Saratoga and enjoy each for different reasons...

However,

I would definitely suggest you go to BWV first, then AKV (far more relaxing and more chances to “kick-back”)

Have fun!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Hi, we own at SSR at went to WDW in Jan/Feb 08' for the 1st time. We were there for 2 weeks and stayed at BWV, AKV, and SSR. BWV is awesome because of the central location. Love the nostalgic decor of the hotel. Feels like you've time travelled to the 20's and 30's. Also close to a lot of dining options i.e. boardwalk, EPCOT, Beaches and Cream @ BCV.
AKV was beautiful as well. Feels like you were really in Africa. Didn't eat at the restaurants, but heard great reviews about them. The breakfast aromas permeated the lobby. Had the savannah view room which the whole family loved!
Finally, we ended our trip at SSR. Loved the spa-type atmosphere. The gym/fitness center was pretty large compared to the other hotels. Loved the early morning walk to Downtown Disney. Also ordered food from Rainforest Cafe and it was only a 5-10 min. walk from villa (stayed at Downtown Disney end of SSR). Loved the villa, the balcony outside of the living room, the hot tub (1 bedroom), the decor, everything!! Our next trip is in 2010. We're planning on staying at another 3 hotels, based on avail. Our wish list: BLT (we just bought in), Polynesian, and BCV. Hope this helps! Good luck! Hawaiiandisneymom

We just went to BWV 2 weeks ago. It is very cute but not for us. Some issues were the layout. We got lost every day, I don't think were that challenged normally either! LOL
Also that you have to wait in line to have someone else refill your coffee and they have to give you a new cup, totally a waste since we were standing there holding our reusable cup. Just not the point!
We did like the quiet pool but spent a total of 10 minutes at the main pool. Just too many people. Thre was a group that was just letting there 6 kids, ages 2 to 5, play in the hot tub, not relaxing at all.
We LOVE AKV! We have stayed at AKL AND now at the Villas 3 times. I will say they need a quiet pool and another hot tub but other than that it is wonderful.
It all depends on what you like though. After our BWV trip we decided that we will probably do OKW, AKV or SSR from now on. Of course I will need to try out the new BLT!

The PPs have all got good points. Let the type of resort decide for you.

If you like liveliness and easy access to more parks and restaurants, BWV should do it.

If, however, you want a more serene vacation (at least when you're not at the parks), AKL might work better. You do have a sense of being away almost in a different land. We love the themeing, talking to the staff, and Boma (their soups and stews are wonderful!). And, of course, the animals.

We've stayed at both and they're both great in their own ways. Be aware that, unlike SSR and OKW, there's more walking to your room, and those hallways can get LONG. Our last stay at BWV was at the very end of the resort close to Jellyrolls, and wow, that was quite a walk!
