We are planning to attend the first week of F&W with another couple. The man is my business partner of 16 years and his wife is, of course, a dear friend. There will be the two of them and my wife, our DD 4 and me.

I guess a two bedroom is in order here but I'd really like to seperate us more when we may all want a little more privacy since we're not exactly family in the proper sense. We're very comfortable with this couple but I think it's always better if a door is available. Sorta like "good fences make good neighbors" if you know what I mean.

BTW, the other couple's 25th wedding anniversary occurs during this trip.

I also thought about just getting a 1BR for us and a Studio for them but I really want them to experience something better than a hotel stay. I really can't afford (don't have enough points) to get both families a 1BR. I have nothing against the studios but they just seem borderline like a hotel room to us especially in this situation. This brings me to my question.

Is there a such thing as a 1BR adjoining a Studio that can be locked off? I hope that makes sense. Maybe this is what is sometimes referred to as a "2BR lock-off" here on the boards? :confused3 I think this would be ideal for us in this particular situation. If there is a such thing, can we specify (guarantee) this accomodation at booking time with MS?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you are right, that is exactly what a 2BR lock-off is. It's a 2BR in which each of the studio and the 1BR could be locked off and even rented separately. Each has a door to the outside in addition to the connecting door, unlike the dedicated 2BR which has only one entrance. The studio portion usually has a kitchenette, unlike the dedicated, and the bedding is sometimes different (SOME resorts have 2 Q beds in the studio of a dedicated, but 1 Q and a pull-out couch in the studio of a lock-off.) Lock-off versus dedicated is a booking category, so if you get it when you ask for it at booking, it's guaranteed. It sounds like a good idea for your situation, because it's cheaper than booking a studio + a 1BR, and you know the rooms will be close. The only disadvantage is that if they cancel, you are left with the 2BR instead of 2 separate ressies, where you could cancel one.

Thank you, Meghan. That's what I thought but I just wanted to be sure.

It's always a risk when you take someone else on your quarter but I'm willing to accept that risk; especially with this couple.

I apologize for unintentionally neglecting that this will be with the last of my DPs at SSR. Since it's with DPs, I guess another resort is not really a possible option. I'm not sure how this may change the room configurations. Any details regarding this room configuration at SSR would be greatly appreciated.

I really need to get this reservation done today. I should have already done it. I hope I haven't waited too late. My DPs expire Oct 3. :(

Just request a 2 bedroom lock-off when you make your SSR reservation. If they don't have a lock-off, take the dedicated and share the front door.
