SSR accepting spa reservations now

I called today too and booked the HydroMassage Terapies- Geyser Spring. My DH and I are doing the half marathon in January and Kate ( the CM that answered the phone) thought that either this one or the Swedish Massage would be best for our poor bodies! Since I've never had a massage before, I booked the hydro because you have to have a swim suit on for it- and I'd feel WAY more comfortable in a swim suit then in my B-Day suit for the Swedish Massage! PLUS- DH said no to a massage- doesn'yt want anyone touching him - but I think he'll go for this one for the same reasons I am going to do it! WHile I'm waiting for DH to have his hydro therapy to be done, I'm getting my first ever pedicure.... my poor little tootsies will appreciate it after that LONG LONG WALK!!!

Has anyone found out yet what access to the spa facilities is going to cost if you aren't getting a treatment that day. I am assuming they have weekly packages for that as well.

Any discount on that for DVC members or those staying at SSR?

The Spa at Disney Institute that won the awards was owned and operated by Disney. The new spa at SSR will not be operated by Disney, it has been subcontracted out to the same firm that does the Grand Floridian Spa.

A very different level of service. I hate to see this happen.

?? What's wrong with the spa at the Grand Floridian? I thought it quite nice!

If the spa at SSR is only as nice as that one, I'll be pleased!

Did you have a bad experience at GF?

No bad experiences at the Grand, just not the same level of service that the Disney employees offered at the DI Spa. It was not Disney and you could tell the difference.

Unless you went to both, I don't think you would notice the differences as the Grand Floridian Spa is nice, but service was better at the DI Spa.

Thanks for the post and the bump! I'm definitely gonna book something...since DD ( 6 months) came along, my body is craving some pampering :cloud9:
