Last fall we had a lovely dedicated 2BR at SSR. This fall, we again want a 2BR for 2 nites (my parents going with us), but then DH and I will be staying 4 more nites by ourselves and will only need a 1BR. So, my question is - can we book a 2BR lock off, then just stay on in the 1BR portion when our guests check out? Or do we have to check out and check back in, even if we're staying in the same unit? Also, what are the differences in a 2BR lock off vs. dedicated, other than the obvious difference of 2 outside doors?
Thanks for your help!

Can't answer the first part of your question with any certainty. My GUESS is that you would at least have to check in again and have new keys issued. It seems like it would be in the resort's best interest to not have you move into an entirely new, clean unit. But my guess is that they couldn't guarantee anything.

As for the differences:

Lockoff: One queen bed and one sofabed in second bedroom.
Dedicated: Two queen beds in second bedroom.

Lockoff: Kitchenette in second bedroom.
Dedicated: Additional closet space in second bedroom.

Lockoff: Balconies off of living room and second bedroom.
Dedicated: One balcony off of living room.

Howdy

Another difference, a an important one for you is that a dedicated unit only has one entrance, a lock off has two entrances. IF you got a dedicated room you would have to move after your parents left unless that was the only 1 bedroom unit left. More than likely Disney would not give you a dedicated unit for your situation because of that.
