Looking to book a trip at SSR for 9--4 adults, 5 kids (1,4,7,7 & 8 years). Trying to decide between 2 bedroom villa or treehouse. Anyone have suggestions, pros/cons for bus transportation, pool, proximity to dining, etc. Thanks!
The Treehouses sound pretty cool. They are configured to sleep nine and have bunk beds, which the older kids would probably enjoy. You would probably have a good deal more privacy too. I'd opt for them.
Our family absolutely agrees!! We just returned from a 5 night stay and I can't say enough how much we enjoyed the THV. We are so spoiled by them. The extra space, the second bathroom, tv's in every room, the seclusion, the closeness of your car (if you have one), to the woodsy details throughout the room, it was a real nice trip. We had no problems with using the bus to get to the main pool/dining. We even drove our car sometimes. We just went with the flow and enjoyed the time there. We were up front, so walking to the main SSR area may be a bit much, but again we jumped on a bus or took a car. No biggie really. If anything, the hard part is figuring out when we can go back!!
Your choice of room may depend on how the guests break into the sleeping arrangements. If it breaks up into 2/3 and 2/2, then the two-bedroom suite should work alright for you. Perhaps the 2/2 family would be comfortable in the studio portion of the suite, and the 2/3 family can share the one-bedroom portion.
The dining options at SSR are the same, so the question would be how often would you & your party be eating @ Artist's Palette. If it's going to be every morning or more than a couple of times for your stay, then you probably want to choose the 2-BR and request a building close to the Carriage House.
A two bedroom villa is still an option as the ninth person is a 1 year old, who would use the pack-n-play.
The two bedroom may offer more convenience to resort facilities for the young ones such as the two "themed" pools (main pool High Rock Springs and the pool at the Grandstands) and community hall.
