Remember that many DVC members avoid staying on points for the more expensive Friday and Saturday nights. Then it makes sense that Disney/DVC is pushing the weekend nights - there is lots of availability, especially for August...
It seems to me what would make sense is for DVC to lower the point requirements for SSR in August, if they can't fill them over the 11 month reservation period.
Meanwhile, they should raise some of the others so they don't sell out in 15 seconds at 9:00:00 am on the first day 11 months out.
Lower SSR studios to 5 points during the summer and watch them fill up. Some of the BWV and BCV rooms should be considerably higher.
But what do I know? I'm just a businessman.
The current system really has some glaring deficiencies.
Just saw the advertisement for this in todays Disney Insider. I'm sure they are looking to drum up attendance and DVC sales. Too bad you can't get the free dining with it. If you could I'd be forced to make a summer trip.
