My family is potentially adding 2 extra days to our stay at POP, but will need to do a split stay since we can't add the days on to our Free Dining package. What is the possibility we would get to keep the same room. I really don't want to shuffle all our stuff around. Thanks!

We are doing the same thing at Coronado Springs. When I called they told me to make sure I tell them at check-in and that they would be able to keep me in the same room, because both reservations are the same type room.

I've done it twice and you can mention it at check in but rooms are only assigned 2-3 days before hand so if you're current stay is 7 days and you want to add two extra then you might be told at check-in they can't guarantee it because they won't have the room assignments yet. Both times I've been told this.

Both times I've done it I've gone to the check in desk at 6am (good thing I'm a morning person) on the morning of the change of reservation to ask to stay in my current room so if it isn't possible I have time to go back to the room, pack up my stuff, call bell services and still head out for rope drop.

At POR the CM very kindly moved the family due to be put into my room to another one for me. At ASMv the CM said it wasn't possible (I went back, packed up and then brought my stuff to reception on my way out for the day) and then when I went to check out and check back in I saw a different CM who said it was not problem to stay in the room . I'd already packed so I took the new room.

You have about a 50/50 chance you'll get to stay. Rooms are assigned in advance so if they are pretty full and have already given your room to some one else you will have to move. Just remind them when you check in then they will have time to re-arrange rooms for other people.

The odds are good, but there is no way to know for sure until you are at the resort. No matter what you may be told over the phone, there is no guarantee you will be able to keep the same room. It is easier on the resort if they can let you stay in the same room, so they will do it if they can.

In the past, I have had to move rooms and been able to stay sometimes. It really isn't predictable. These days, if I can't get a single reservation for the full time at one resort, i do a split stay and move to another resort. If I have to pack up and unpack anyway, I like to see another resort for the rest of my visit.
