I have read on here that the napoleon has changed in the new French bakery and it isn't as good. Is the napoleon in SR as good as the old one in France?
Funny you should ask this question. Last week I ate the napoleons at both Starring Rolls and the French bakery at Epcot. They were both delicious but the one at Starring Rolls was larger. I couldn't tell a big difference in taste. I wouldn't pass them up.
I am interested in hearing the replies to this. I had the Napolean at the French Bakery two Xmas' ago (2011) and it was nowhere near as good as it was in years past. In fact, I would not order it again.
I am hoping it has been changed back to its former deliciousness at the French Bakery. I will be so Otherwise.......forget it. If you had the opportunity to try it before the current one, you would know the difference.........and it's a big difference! The old one ruined me for the current one.
I had the Napoleon at Epcot in October 2011 then had the Napoleon at Starring Rolls in October 2012 and I couldn't tell a big difference. I do also think the one from SR was a bit bigger and the white icing on the very top seemed to be thicker than that of Epcot.
But I have read on here that the new France bakery is making a different version of Napoleon. I won't find out until November of this year when I pan on trying one at Epcot and SR!! =)
I am curious how they cut those Napoleon squares so perfectly considering how hard some of those layers are inside the pastry. I would think they would try to cut through it and it would all squish. I would like to see how they do it and keep them so perfect.
I only order cupcakes at SR as well : ) but if the Napoleon isn't good in France that means I'll have I go to SR twice. Or darn
I am excited to see the reply that it is still food in France. I will give it a try.
I bought two Napoleans on Jan 14 at the new bakery. They were very tough and not flakey at all. Now if they have changed since then, that will be a big improvement. The two eclairs I also bought were also both very toug with thick fudge frosting instead of a chocolate glaze.
