Squitty's Christmas & Birthday trip Dec 2005 Day 5

Day 5 – Friday 16th Dec

Today was another early start to the day. We have to be out and ready and over to pick DD1 and DBF for 8:30am so we can get to Magic Kingdom for our breakfast with Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet.

Set off with plenty of time to spare.

All was going well until we got on the monorail to get to MK. We stopped for 10 min while they took a monorail off up ahead, why do these things always happen when you are in a hurry? Then we were off only a couple of yards again as they still hadn’t done what they were supposed to do. We got through bag check etc and made our way up main st. Got to SP 9:25am, there was a queue when I got there and I checked in at 9:31am, were I was given a pager and told to wait till it went off.

We were waiting about 10 – 15 mins I think that they did that on purpose, but it was not my fault the monorail had a couple of stops!

We were seated and told our server would be with us in a while. We were starving so I told the kids to go and get what they wanted and DH and I would wait for the server. Another 5 min passed still no server; eventually he turned up and went through what was what and how the characters would come around etc.
The kids were back with there first course. Then DH and I went up. There were a few choices. Fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles. Bacon, sausages, cheesy potatoes and corned beef hash are all I can remember.

While eating Tigger came past and never even stopped for his photo taken, DD1 was most upset as we call her Tigger because of her hair!
Next was Eeyore, which was perfect, very lovely as always, I think everybody had their photo took with Eeyore.
Then Piglet came around and we had our photo took with him. There were no other characters for awhile after that.
Pooh was taking ages coming around and we were really stuffed and couldn’t be bothered to wait for him, so we got the bill $101 without tip. We left $120 and made our way out. Full but not very happy with the characters and service. It wasn’t that we were rushed, it was just soooo busy.

Outside we decided to split up as there was no way that we could keep up with DD1 and her DBF they were on a mission to do every WDW park today.
So we said that we’d meet them in MGM at 5pm.They took DD2 with them as I knew that they would do all the rides that she wanted to do and we didn’t want to do them today. It was a bit on the chilly side, forecast 68 top and it was partly cloudy today although they said there was no chance of rain and it would be sunny! Eventually the sun did come out.
Anyway back to the day, we went our separate ways. DH and I decided to watch Cinderellabration, which was ok. Would have been better if we didn’t have so many people walk in front of us.

After that we went and had a walk over to Haunted Mansion, this was a walk on.

DH and I think that they have changed HM its seems much darker! Managed to break down as our carriage was right in front of the bride!

After HM we had a walk up to Mickeys Philharmagic

This was saying 5 min wait, but this was also a walk on. What can I say this show is brilliant as always, love it. Then we walked past the new Pooh playground, everything in that part of the park looks totally different now with this here. Pooh adventure was closed and we saw some fire fighters going into the ride, don’t know what happened but hoped everything was ok.
We decided to do Buzz, get FP as the wait time is showing 30 min. Fast passes in hand, we then head for TTA. Love this ride to, it’s just so relaxing, especially on a hot day in the MK, the breeze is very welcome, however it’s not needed on a chilly day like today.
DH asked a CM when Carousel of Progress would be open, it opens tomorrow! Typical we love this ride, but its ok we can do it later on.
After TTA we have 5 mins for our Fast Pass time so we sit in the sun and people watch! The time soon passes and its time to go.
I get totally thrashed; I always do on this ride! I control the spinning too, don’t know how he does it.

We then have a wander down Main St and have our photo took, get a photo pass card so that we can view them online later and if we like them we will buy them.
We spotted a new VMK shop, had a quick look in.

Have a look in the shops, where we buy ourselves a name tag each $6.00 per tag and engraving is free.
I choose the one with Tinkerbell and DH gets the Mickey one.

We thought we’d hop over the Epcot next to do Soarin’. Just as we boarded the monorail to get back to the car DD1, DD2 and DD’s DBF got on the same monorail. Instead of getting the car over to Epcot DD1 and DBF went on the monorail. DD2 came with us. So we lost them while we were in Epcot.

Into Epcot and straight round to the land where we were going to get FP for Soarin’ but the return time was 5:30pm this was no good. The wait time was showing 70 min and we were just about to go back out when the time changed to 30 min so we thought why not. It was only 30 min right! The wait felt like hours. We get to the last bit and that side of the ride must have broken down and we have to turn around and go back over the other side. This was so annoying as they didn’t even let us in the front of the line, we had to wait in line again!!! Eventually we got there. We were in row 3. I’m pleased I have done the ride but it would have been much better if we had rode it on row 1 I wouldn’t wait more that 15 min to ride it again.

Next we just had a slow walk over to take some photos of the new Club Cool. Everything is nice and clean. Not a great deal in there. Had a taste of one or two not Beverly though.

We then want to go to MGM. I text messaged DD1 to tell her where we were going and she text back to say that she was riding Test Track.

Off we go again back to the car and then straight into MGM. This park seems really busy tonight. There is a huge queue for security checks. A few minutes later I was in DD2 and DH never had any bags so they walked straight in.
Looked at the info board and it said that there was a 20 min wait for ToT and 30 min for Rock‘n’Roller Coaster. So DD2 and I walked down to RnRC to get Fast Passes and go and wait in line for ToT. Fast Passes in hand we head over to ToT

…this was no way 20 min, we walked on. Row 1 OMG I love this ride sooo much the feeling that you get is one of the best! And that view when the doors open…WOW!
Had a great laugh at the photo but we didn’t buy it. DD2 wanted to ride it again but I couldn’t be bothered so waited for her while she went and rode it again.
When she came out it was time for our Fast Pass for RnRC Off we went for our ride in our stretched, no make that a super stretched limo. I took a few photos and videos of the start of the ride with my phone.

We wanted to ride at the very back as it is a much faster ride.
Whoooooosh off we went and we had Dude looks like a lady blasting in the car…so we were singing along to that. Excellent ride thoroughly enjoy it everytime.

DD2 and her DBF had just got into MGM it was 5:10pm. We were getting hungry by now but we didn’t want anything too big. DD1 wanted to go off and ride the rides, so DD2 went off with her. Arranged to meet back here in 1 hour. We ate at the takeaway place just opposite Beauty and the Beast. DH had a cheeseburger and fries and I had chicken strips and fries, we shared a large diet coke. $14.95
The burger was awful DH left it and ate one of my strips!
We thought we would go and ride the Great Movie Ride, that was until we saw the queue! It was huge, so a walk over to tatooine traders to see if they had any Anakin skywalker t’shirts for DD2 as she wanted one so badly and we thought it would be a ideal surprise for a Christmas present. We were disappointed that they didn’t have any t’shirts with him on. They did have the Yoda in that DD1 wanted $750 +tax.

We had a wander over to look at 50 Prime Time Café to see if we would like to eat there. We’re still not sure.
Off to look in the shops. There are some lovely things in them, could spend a small fortune in all of them.
Its getting really chilly now so we think Fantasmic is going to be a bad idea as the seats are metal and it will be freezing.
The kids are back 1 hour later and they have had enough for the day. DD1 wanted to get her nails done as they are off home tomorrow!
Had a drive to Wal-Mart on SR535 where they advertise $17 but when she asked they said $35 so she didn’t bother getting them done. Had a look round Wal-Mart. DD2 spent $20 we didn’t get anything.
Dropped DD1 and DBF off at their hotel and said our goodbyes, they are getting Orlando carriers to take them to the airport tomorrow to save us taking them.
Back to the room and straight into bed, watched TV and fell fast asleep.

Yes, it used to be the Ice Station, they've taken all the snow away and done a refurb on the place, but you can still get all the free samples

Michelle, you certainly packed a lot into today, I can't believe you managed to fit 3 parks in - you must've been exhausted

Yes, I think we've missed out on something here. There's a very sudden transition from MK to Epcot that seems to be almost magical in itself!!

What a great day,very busy.Shame about the monorail,what a pain,especially when you have a breakfast booked.
The last time we went we had a 8.05 ressie it was very quiet and the character interaction was great.

Lovely report. What a busy day. I am glad you managed to fit Soarin in. We enjoyed the ride but it was a walk on when we went, as we came out the lines had built up to 1/2 hour straight away. I think the waiting area is quite boring so I wouldn't like to queue up in it.
