Squirts, Shirts, and Flirts, The Legend Continues 2 weeks in FW(wrap up #2 new 11-17)

Great pictures! We've never really done that character spot in Epcot. We usually hit those guys during our Chef Mickey's dinner, so we don't need to. But the backdrops and everything make for great pictures!

Everyone always says that the rain only lasts 10 minutes. And sometimes when we're there, it does. But we've also had all-day, forcing cancellation of things rain, too. I remember sitting there in 2007, when I was supposed to be seeing Illuminations for the first time, thinking, "Why won't this rain go away??? They told me it would be gone within a half hour!!" :rotfl: Someday, I'm going to Disney during a time that DOESN'T feature a decent chance of rain every day of my trip!!!

try october that is a good time to go, at least it has always seemed a good time for us in the past.

and we knew we were going to see those characters again later on, but we figured that we would try and see them many times to see how parker did with them. which worked out good, some times he did good with certain ones that he did not like other times and vice versa.

Chapter 8. Felt up on Soarin!

Yeah you read that right, someon gets felt up on soarin during this chapter.

But first we must take it back a little and look at what we did after the jamminators, we were on our way to nemo.

It is pictures like these next 2 that show me how big my little man is and how fast he is growing up
DSC00817.jpg

DSC01516.jpg

then he also has him moments when he still wants to get little and have you hold him, which makes candi very happy and she loves that he still does this.
DSC00818.jpg

nemo was fun, parker loved it, only got a little scared during the jellyfish scene but then was fine.

now talk about the fish, this kid loves fish any kind, so of course he ran right up to the tank while we were waiting to go in to see crush.

this one was my favorite because when he came on the glass, it looked like a human face looking back at you, maybe a little distorted, but non the less.
DSC00822.jpg

crush was funny as ever, i was able to snag a front row seat to be by parker, and nana and papa had the row behind me, candi of course wanted to take her spot on the floor with parker.
DSC00824.jpg

there were a few kids acting like monkeys by the nemo statue outside so we had to settle for a picture with the dory one, which is fine, because she is my favorite anyway.
DSC01523.jpg

after learning that fish are friends and not food, we decided that we should get some food we could eat.

so we ate at a place we have never eaten at the electric umbrella, normally we try and eat lunch CS at one of the countries, but since we still had stuff to do up in future world we opted for eating here.

lunch was really good, i shared my nuggets with parker, and had some of candis burger, nana liked her chicken salad, and papa, enjoyed his nuggets.
DSC01524.jpg

an easy ride on a full stomach was Space ship earth, we were hoping parker would fall asleep on this again this year, but nope he enjoyed checking everything out during the ride
DSC00832.jpg

i have a video of the future for me and candi but it was too large to upload.

we passed through innoventions on the way to soarin, and stopped to make the sticky velcrow monkey face guys.
DSC01532.jpg

all of the shapes and designs were pretty neat and there were many options to choose from.
DSC01534.jpg

lesson learned: after you do the built a velcro monkey/face man thingy, do not throw them all in a pile in the stroller, they all stuck together and i still dont know if they are pulled apart or not, not even sure where they are at.
we headed back to the land to use our FP's that we got that morning. my parents took parker on the land ride, which he loved, he cried when it was time to get off.
DSC01535.jpg

so time for me and candi to hit soarin while they road there ride. we walk all the way up to the split and bypass the 70 minute standby wait. when it is our turn to get our seat assignment, we ask to wait for the next one for the middle section top row.

which we do, and 2 girls i would say mid to early 20's come down and wait next to us, the one is in a wheelchair, and we start talking about things, the ride, and such her fear of heights, we assure he that she will be okay on the ride and explain to her about it, so she goes to get in line behind us, and the lady that is putting us into rows is making a big fit about how many people are in each row and so forth and trying to figure out the numbers, well of course her wheelchair is taking up more than one spot on the ground so to ease the CM and calm he down me and candi move closer together to allow her to take up one of our spots this allows the CM to relax

now we get to the ride.
DSC00841.jpg

so everyone is situated, and the lights go out, a little scream from the girl next to me, but i assure her it is okay, then we take off and start flying up.

the show starts, the scenes are going by, and we get to the one where you go over the mountain and look like you are going to fall over the edge of the other side, well she reaches off the handle that is next to your thigh on the ride, and grabs a hold of my thigh, and she shreaks.

i should have been the one to shreak, but i laughed, and she says she is sorry she was scarred, i say its okay and keep laughing, candi looks at me and asks what is so funny, i say ill tell you when we get off.

the rest of the ride is good, and when we exit i tell candi what happens, she says "yeah right she used that whole scared on the ride thing just to feel you up i should go get her."

so not sure what to believe but it was funny none the less....when we exited we found nana papa, and parker getting off the land, which he didnot want to do, he was crying he wanted on so bad, so we took him on with us again, while nana and papa took there ride on soarin.

parker must have thought his second ride was on a pirate ship.
DSC00844.jpg

we left the land after our ride and met up with the parental units (stole that one from crush) and made our way to figment, but not before we found this little creature stealing food from a family.
DSC01547.jpg

we pretty much walk right on figment...parker was excited for this one, he sat next to papa on this ride and even climbed up onto his lap for the second part of the ride.

Remember that for later on in the day

he seemed to enjoy the ride and have a good time. and liked having papa with him.

DSC00858.jpg

now i have always liked this fountain outside the imagination pavilian, and it never really dawned on me that it was flowing backwards, until i read the secrets to disney book i have, and it said it flows backwards, because of your imagination and such and so on, well it got me thinking and i had to look at a picture i had of it and then duhhhh it hit me, yep it sure does go backwards,
DSC00862.jpg

coming up in the next chapter, i find my first official hidden mickey on my own in the parks. well first one since i have aware that they exist.

and candi has her own confrontation with a group of boys outside mexico.

Loved the pics with the characters. I think it is interesting how kids reactions to the characters change depending on their age/developmental stage.

Love the jammitors. Those guys are talented.

Cute stingray.......

:lmao::lmao::lmao:Can't believe you got felt up on Soarin':lmao::lmao::lmao:

yay.. 2 updates

Glad Parker did pretty good with characters.

Trent loved them at that age.

It was the following year it was all down hill :rotfl:

That is a riot about Soarin :rotfl2:

We still have not done Crush. We really need to check this out next trip

Hey Dan!

I’ve been on vacation for the past two weeks so I’m slowly catching up. I’m glad you enjoyed WCC. We enjoyed our meal there as well. Loved the Smurf shirts as well.

Cooking a good brisket is a art form in these parts. Here’s how I do it.

First, you have to find the right cut of meat. A trimmed brisket is pretty, but it’s not conducive to good BBQ. This cut of meat is by nature, extremely tough. You need the fat and marbling left intact in order to keep the meat from drying out while it slow cooks. I start with an untrimmed brisket in the 10-12 pound range. One side of the brisket will have a layer of fat. Score this several times down the meat, but don’t cut it off.

There are two ways to season a brisket, marinade and dry rub. I say why choose, and do both.

Marinade:
1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
2 Cups BBQ sauce
1 tsp liquid smoke
1tbsp Olive Oil
¼ Cup Worchestershire
3 cups of Dr. Pepper (Do NOT use diet. The sweetner will turn bitter in the marinade!)

Combine, stick in a basting bag with the meat, refrigerate overnight.

Dry Rub:
2 cups of brown sugar
3/4 cup Kosher salt
1/3 cup Chili powder
¼ cup garlic powder
2 tablespoons Cumin

Thoroughly drain marinade. Combine dry rub and generously coat meat. It should be completely covered on all sides. Allow to sit and rest while you go get the smoker ready. (OR stick it back in the fridge for another day.)

To cook this right, you need a smoker. Preferably one that allows you to keep the temp in the 220 range. Smoke time depends GREATLY on the smoker itself and the size of the brisket. 60-70 minutes per pound is a good starting spot.

Smoke it unwrapped FAT SIDE UP. It will have a pink ring around the edges of meat when you slice it. This is normal. The pink doesn’t mean it’s undercooked, it’s just how smoking it works. If you are JUST smoking it, wrap in foil after 4-5 hours to prevent drying.

Or you can do what I do and after 4-5 hours of smoking, move it to the oven to finish. (Wrap in foil, then 220 degrees until the meat reaches an internal temp of 195.)

When I do it ALL in the oven, I usually give it an hour at 350, then drop it to 220 for 8 hours or so depending on the size of the thing.

Which ever way you go, just be sure to let it rest covered and undisturbed for AT LEAST 30-45 min before you slice into it. An hour wouldn’t be bad. Then trim off the fat layer and slice the meat against the grain.

Mmmmm sounds good. Saved that recipe to try.

we see the jaminators ( i think that is them) just outside of where you exit the character connection.

they were cool!

I laughed out loud about the girl grabbing your leg LOL. I screamed at that part too but I was in between two kids so I grabbed my DD4 leg LOL

:lmao: I'm glad Candi as able to restrain her urge for a DisBoards Beat Down. Sounds like a great afternoon at Epcot.

Great update Dan! Somehow I knew it was you who was going to have a touching moment. I'll bet that person was embarrassed! Are you sure there isn't a "lesson learned" somewhere in that story?

I loved the pirate ship comment and picture.

Such fun! I love Living with the Land boat ride too. Let's hear about the experience at Mexico! popcorn::

We love Living with the Land too. Has Parker ever eaten at the Garden Grill? I bet he would love it.

Okay so tell the truth...Did you enjoy the "extra touch" or not? :lmao:

I love the pirate picture!! I am right there with Candi, too, on the times that the little guys want to be held. We've got to take it while we can get it! I look at my older two and wonder where the time has gone. So, Will is probably a bit spoiled in that way, but I don't care!

Too funny about Soarin'! I have heard people yell a bit at that point in the ride, but I've never had anyone grab me. ;)

Oh I know that look. It is the " I was able to cry and get to go on Living with the land ride again" look.
I know it well since my son used it when he was little. :rotfl2: Such a cutie, how could you resist?

Funny about the grab in Soarin.

:lmao: I'm glad Candi as able to restrain her urge for a DisBoards Beat Down. Sounds like a great afternoon at Epcot.

:rotfl2:

See, for me, as a wife and a mother, in an innocuous setting like that where you will NEVER see that girl again, it's a compliment.

To both of you.

:rotfl:

But I'm with Candi on her assessment of the situation.

OMG the Parker pirate wink is the cutest thing ever.

Seriously...we still have to wait for the 11pm "lesson"?

Another great update! Your Soarin story is pretty funny! I had once an old lady sitting next to me and at some point during the ride, she grabbed for my hand, because she was so frightened. :goodvibes

The Electric Umbrella does look not too bad. I really like the look of their outdoor seating as well. I think you could watch the fountain show from there.

And I did see the face on the fish! :goodvibes

:lmao::lmao:Can't believe you got felt up on Soarin':lmao::lmao:

yeah i think it also helps with how you portray them before they get there and as they are watching them from a distance...different things worked with him at different times...like you will see when he visits the faires later on in the report the ones that were over the top he did not like, but the laid back ones he did.

i have never seen an underside of a stingray i thought it was very cool glad he came up onthe glass/

some people just like to seize the oportunity to get close to this guy.:cool2::laughing:

yay.. 2 updates

well i did not see you come around after the first update the day before so i though maybe a second update will get you back to respond.
:rotfl:

well he has 2 years till the next trip, and hopefully he will be a big boy and take his younger brother or sister with him to see them...and no candi is not pregnant, just planning ahead.

crush is great, very funny you guys would love it, we hit it every trip.

I laughed out loud about the girl grabbing your leg LOL. I screamed at that part too but I was in between two kids so I grabbed my DD4 leg LOL
i bet next trip, you will sit next to a guy and grab his leg and use the whole sorry i was scared bit then, now that you know girls can get away with it.
:thumbsup2

:lmao: I'm glad Candi as able to restrain her urge for a DisBoards Beat Down. Sounds like a great afternoon at Epcot.
well that and the fact that i made sure i told her when we were far enough away so she didnt get the claws out.

Great update Dan! Somehow I knew it was you who was going to have a touching moment. I'll bet that person was embarrassed! Are you sure there isn't a "lesson learned" somewhere in that story?

I loved the pirate ship comment and picture.

hmm lesson learned, not sure, there could be a few, but we will leave them along for now.
;)

that picture cracks me up every time i look at it.

Such fun! I love Living with the Land boat ride too. Let's hear about the experience at Mexico! popcorn::

i like to learn about how they do all the growing very interesting stuff.

it is coming, might not be today have a busy one scheduled, so hopefully will get it out there for tomorrow.

We love Living with the Land too. Has Parker ever eaten at the Garden Grill? I bet he would love it.

Okay so tell the truth...Did you enjoy the "extra touch" or not? :lmao:
nope none of us have, we looked there menu and even though the characters seem fun there, we are not to big on the food they offer...but maybe some trip we will try it.

not going to comment on the extra tough  this is a family thread.

yeah i see her smile every night when he says no mama and wants her instead of me, or when he wakes up and cuddles up in her lap she eats it up.

i guess you just are not sitting next to the right people, need to watch them while waiting in line and pick out the ones that are looking a little skitish then go stand by them.
:rotfl2:

yep that little booger gets us every time, with those faces, its hard to say no to him, especially now since he can do a sad face, and make his voice low like he is really dissapointed in not being able to do something, he wont throw a fit, just make the face and say "okay" really sad, almost makes candi cry he has her so wrapped around his finger,

okay me wrapped around there also.

:rotfl2:

yeah she did good, but in the next chaper with the kids at mexico not so much.

yep still have to wait, i think that might be 2 chapters away, we have alot of good stuff before we get to there, but its keeping you coming back for more huh,:thumbsup2 gotta leave those hangers out there for a little bit.

good thing they werent on space mountain where you can see anything, not sure what they woudl grab hold of then.

yeah it wasnt, it was your normal counter service location food was good and hot, and good cool seating on a hot day.
i still havent watched that fountain show, would like to some day.

i never knew they had faces that looked like that it was pretty cool.

I'm with Parker on the jellyfish scene. I don't like it either! :scared:

Great story about Soarin! :rotfl2:

I have a pic of my nephew with my Mickey pirate ears on his head making that exact same face! :)

No I've never been stung by one but that's probably cause I swim away as fast as I can if I see one! They are just creepy little creatures.

Yup, my nephew Jake also makes those faces very well! :rotfl:

Funny story from Soarin! Wonder if she would of grabbed Candi's thigh if she would have been sitting next to her? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Hey Dan, Great update! Parker is such a little man! He's gotten so big compared to the other pix I've seen from last year. Amazing!

Glad you posted about the Velcro frogs. That's the one (and only) thing I want to do in Innoventions. Can you tell me exactly where they are, EAst or West? Can you give me a landmark??

TIA

If her hand was cold, it was an accident- if not, she's was a good fibber. ;)
