Squeezing into a 2BR

I'd not look at it in terms of occupancy max and instead look at it in terms of makeup of the traveling party and separate sleeping areas and overall room for privacy and space.

I agree with others that with the makeup of your traveling party a 2 bedroom would not be the most ideal that said it depends on how they feel about it.

Purely a general outlook I personally have (and again this is personal opinion), younger kids can usually do fine with shared open spaces whereas teens/older teens and adults tend to prefer their own space and privacy (though totally an individual thing for sure). Not to mention how the beds are set up and preferences on sleeping habits (i.e. sharing a bed). Also another thing to discuss is size of bed people would be comfortable with.

There is no way I would consider that arrangement with that many adults and a wheelchair.

I think I’d sacrifice staying onsite and get something with more space for less as a previous poster suggested. I know some can handle being shoved together like sardines, but if I want to be on speaking terms with my traveling party at the end of the trip, I need a little “me” space. Whatever you decide, have a fantastic trip!
This - absolutely. Nothing sours a trip faster than cramped quarters. The cost of offsite pool homes is so reasonable compared to anything onsite that it is ridiculous. Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms are extremely close to WDW, lovely resorts, and the homes are great. We have rented every kind of accommodation (condos, townhouses, and pool homes) in these 2 resorts and have never been disappointed.

Four the first of our multi-generational trips, we had 10 people, spanning ages 3 - 89. Our pool home had 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, laundry facilities, games room, plenty of elbow room and privacy, not to mention the lovely screened lanai, pool and spa. We could arrive at the entrance to AK parking lot in 5 - 7 min, depending on the traffic light.

That sounds miserable to me. I agree with the poster who suggested each family/couple get their own room where they want to stay and everyone meets up when it is convenient. I wouldn't want to share a bedroom with my husband and another couple, and I wouldn't expect the other couple to be okay with it either. I wouldn't make my kids sleep on a pull-out couch in a common room with other people walking through, etc.

I am breaking one of my rules and suggesting an off property accommodation. Otherwise a treehouse. We had high school age boys in the bunks

With someone in a wheelchair, I would not recommend a treehouse villa. Even though there are two that have HA ramps, they are still difficult to enter and exit compared to villas in the hotels.

Like others, I agree that “squeezing” that many adults into a 2BR villa is not a good idea. Even less so when one adult has handicap requirements.

My extended family is planning a trip for December 2020. There will be 7 adults and 2 kids; my husband and I, our 2 kids who will be 6 and 4, my parents, my 2 sisters and one brother-in-law who is in a wheelchair.

We were planning to rent points. Everybody getting their open studio, isn't really possible due to budget. But I was wondering if all of us squeezing into a 2 bedroom would be realistic. Many of the 2 bedroom sleep 9, but some members of my family feel like it would be too much, too squished.
It's all about how much personal space you guys require. There's def. enough room, but how would you split up the space. You'd have a king room with a bathroom; a room with 2 queens (assuming you get dedicated 2 bedroom, otherwise it'll be a queen with pull out) and a bathroom, and then you'll have the main living area which has a pull out, chair pull out and bathroom in the main area.

When we went we had 3 separate "immediate families/ppl." and we assigned 1 bathroom to each of those groups which worked well, but your combination is a lil different.

ETA: What villa are you looking at? I was just assuming Bay Lake because that's where we always stay lol. If your not staying at Bay Lake, most if not all of the other 2 bedrooms only have 2 bathrooms.
