Our neighbor Judy is getting a new sewing machine. Her old one, however, works just fine. So she donated it to me.

Squee!

Now,I haven't sewed in years but it can't be THAT hard if anybody can learn to do it. I plan on using it to make some bedsheets with matching pillow cases as well as a renfaire costume. I've even thought of designating a special LJ to it but I'm not sure yet. I know I want to go see if WalMart or JoAnn's has the patterns I need. They might,cuz the ones I need are 'costume' patterns and Halloween is coming up.

The ones I'm considering are this one and this one. Both are period and I'm sure I can find some fabric I like for not so much money (or so I hope). I love them both..I might have to do both! ^_^

I love the second dress. Our Ren Fest started last weekend. We probably won't get to go for a few weeks. Check out your Sunday paper for the Joann's flyer. They have a 40% off a single item coupon almost every week. They count a cut of fabric as one item. That should save you a bit of money.

Hey TOV,
I don't know how much support you need uptop but those simplicity bodices will not do it for me! I still have to wear a corset under them. If I make the bodice myself then I can get it right and not have to wear a corset. There is an online bodice pattern creator that is better than those, I'll see if I can find you the link.

Congrats on the sewing machine, I don't know how I'd live without mine!

I'm planning on making the dresses and seeing if I can possibly do without a corset. If not...I'll see if I can make one. They look scary!
