Yeah, it's just a sample, but we do measure ourselves.
True story...my first Unofficial Guide research trip in 2000, I stayed at a studio in OKW. After dinner (a survey of two all-you-can-eat lobster buffets, and yet another story), Bob and the rest of the team drop me off. As Bob's parking the van, he says "Hey, do you mind if we come up and measure you're room?" It's like 11 at night, I'm in a van full of strangers, and they break out the tape measures. It was so surreal I couldn't say no.
Here's the rest of the story....okay, same first trip with the Unofficial Guide. So Bob and team pick me up for dinner and Bob says we're going to the International Lobster Festival, an all-you-can-eat lobster place. We get there, the food's fine, and we eat for like two hours. Around 9 pm, Bob says "Well, I suppose we should head to the next place." So we head to the International Lighthouse Lobster Festival, and check that place out.
Wait, it gets better. I get dropped off at OKW, they break out the tape measures, and check out the rest of my room. Takes fifteen minutes. I walk Bob & co back to their van, say goodnight, then go back to my room and discover I've locked myself out. I trudge off to get a new room key.
On the way, I pass by the small store in the lobby. The've got Entenmann's doughnuts on sale. So I pick up half a dozen and a Coke, get my key re-made, and go back to my room to eat four doughnuts and the Coke while watching SportsCenter on ESPN. After two lobster dinners. That was when I hit bottom. It was a sad, sad night.
