Square Folding Strollers

I've been doing some research and stumbled upon something kind of cool - square folding or compact folding strollers. Sounds like a good Disney solution for those with kiddos, huh??

Well, I am thinking of purchasing one, but was wondering if anyone here has any input/experience with these.

The ones I am looking at are the Mutsy Spider, Summer's Infant square folding stroller and the Modela Cielo (sp?) - but it's really $$$$.

I have a 3 year old and I had nearly made my mind up to do the stroller rental at Disney for our upcoming trip due to (1) not wanting to lug that thing on the buses to and from the parks and (2) possibly getting it stolen. Yes, my DD can walk, but there may be (and I know there will be) times when she passes out after a fun day and Daddy or myself has to carry her after we drop off the stroller from the stroller rental at the park.

So....these cool compact/square folding strollers look like a nice solution - they look compact, small enough to fit in an overhead bin on the airplane, small enough to take on the bus with you at Disney? and small enough to bring into the restaraunt with you instead of keeping it outside with everyone else's????

I would love some feedback if anyone knows about these things. It looks like it might be nice to have, but I'm on the fence at the moment. I want to be totally sure that it will help and we will be able to keep it with us at all times, including when we go to table service restaraunts as well as some attractions and mainly on the bus or other transportation to and from the parks.

Thanks in advance!! Can't wait for Disney!!

You can gate check a stroller and it doesn't count against your baggage total (usually -- check w/your specific airline). If you carry it on, it will count as one of your carry on items. MOST strollers must be gate or baggage checked as they are too big to fit in an overhead bin. This one does look like it would meet the size requirements for a carry on item.

As far as bringing it into the restaurant, the policy is usually that if the child is asleep, they'll allow the stroller in the restaurant. If the child is awake though, they will probably ask that you leave it outside in stroller parking. I know that stroller theft does occur sometimes, but I don't think it's all that common. This is purely anecdotal, but we've spent all told about 2-3mos worth of time at WDW and never had a stroller stolen from us. I would never leave anything valuable in the stroller though.

Oh, and about the buses, this type of stroller does look like it would be much easier for public transportation. You will still have to fold it up before boarding the bus (even if the child is asleep).

Update!!! We bought the Mia Moda Cielo Evolution stroller. It just looked too great to pass up altogether. You can fold it up and put in a bag (that it comes with) to look like a briefcase of sorts. Plus, being able to use it as a carry on while traveling by air, that's really cool. Hopefully it will be as wonderful as we hope. If anyone has one of these, I would love to hear some feedback. I'm excited to get it. Hopefully it will make our life (and our Disney trip!! :cool1: ) all the better! :)
