Spyware???

I've seen posts on this subject many times--which is why I'm thinking I may have it? How do check to see if spyware "stuff" has infiltrated itself into my computer. It is running slower, and when I log off website, there are tons of ads that I have to close--that didn't used to happen.

What are the steps to get rid of it again??

Can I piggyback a question on this?

Sometimes, when I'm reading threads on here, my pc will play the little sound that Ad-Aware plays when it finishes a scan. I don't have the full version of Ad-Aware. Any idea what that is? Does it mean that there's some script embedded in a post that's trying to run?

I was trying to download CW Shredder yesterday & found that link thru a Google search. Unfortunately, that link doesn't work anymore.

Well, that's not good!

It turns out that the author of CWShredder is moving on with real life... Here's a little news blurb about it. That would explain his site being down.

Looks like there won't be further updates to this product, unless a different developer adopts it. It should still be a good tool for a while.
