Sprint + iPhone rumour?

Awhile back someone posted that there's a rumor that Sprint will be added as a carrier for the iPhone. Has anyone heard any updates on this and if it's actually going to happen?
I'm lusting after an iPhone, but will have to settle for the Evo if the carrier switch doesn't happen.

Still just a rumor, but the EVO is a sweet phone.

My wife has the Evo and loves it. I want the iPhone because I want my music/podcasts, phone, photos & books (kindle) all in one place. Now I carry my iTouch and hope for a wireless connection and also a cell phone.

AT&T has an exclusive contract to carry the iPhone until 2011, which has already been extended once. Given the insane iPhone 4 pre-order madness that went on today, I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T tries very hard to extend it again.
